Glenn Skatchill
Johny Small
I have targeted these 2 only, as they are the 2 that have displayed the maturity and commitment to me the most over the last 2 seasons.
Sorry to any one that feels they should fit in here, but this is my call of riders, there are others out there that have good skills, and only time will tell if they also the maturity and hunger to grow more with out mum and dads money.
And Suzuki GSXR 600,s in the production 600 ASBK series class
1) People talk a lot, some people do a lot
2) So the doers, STEP UP ASAP
There is an intelligent cleaver marketing person on this site just hiding for now, of that I am sure!
I have Not spoken to either of these riders nor there current sponsors about this, but nothing ventured nothing gained:yes:
$5000-00 PER ROUND REQD to present and compete Proffesionaly
Come on guru, make it happen for them?us the KIWI;s
They are both to young and unskilled to market and manage them self properly, they need buisness management support ASAP.
Johny Small has John Hepburn as a supporter/manager him, ( Again I have not spoken to John Hepburn abnout this) But I am 100% confident that John would support a Proffesional plan to make this team happen.
This team would/could fit into the Idea I have already spoken about re a truck and base in Australia next year, I am as serious about this happening as I was about winning races in my day.

Both seem to have marketing and sponsorship already?
No offense - but what is in it for us apart from a good vibe. Been down this road before - got burned by them turning their back as soon as they got noticed by someone bigger. After a lot of work some people don't even give you time of day.......its more fun supporting 10 young nubees than 1 professional wanker.
I know your a good fella Shaun but sometimes people take advantage of you.

Good choice of riders.
Might be hard to sell it on an idea without seeing the set up and spec of bike but if you have a proven track record with supporting these riders then I dont think it will be a problem
Good luck

I'm sure it's important enough that it's only right that Kiwibiker should be the first to know.

The whole idea is just to get people working on a way to make it happen mate
The figure mentioned of 5K is just a number pulled from the air
It would be up to who ever was to become there manager for the project to figure out the costings of it
We would be offering the transport and base for bikes and spares to operate from ONLY!! NO management of there budget what so ever!!!!!!!
We would be supplying a costing on the logisitics of our part of it Direct to there Manager only
Man this place is so full of negativity and bored people:baby:
PS CHOPPA, my last comment is NOT aimed at you in any way mate, I think you know exactually what I mean by it

I wouldn't call it negativity Craig.
I'm still trying to work out what Shaun's asking for - or who he's asking it from.

Sorry Bro, as mentioned it is KB eh !!
On a serious note tho I did read your post and thought it was admirable to try to encourage this sort of thing, frankly speaking tho I think its going to be a big struggle gaining sponsorship for it, unless there is a specific and tangible bennifit for the potential sponsor. I get a few sponsorship proposals a week mate (with Mobil) and its sad to say most are just not going to offer a return on investment, our market is so small bro !! thats the problem with everything motorcycle related, but hey I got Paeroa across the line for us !!

Sorry, maybe you'll have to spell it out for me Shaun.
What idea exactly are you trying to sell here?
A 'team' that don't even know they exist?
What sort of backing would you expect for a venture that is nothing but a thread on KB?

The whole idea of my original post was to try encourage people to strat thinking out side the square ie
Mr Slowpoke comes up with some very healthy thoughts
Marcus comes up with healthy buisness thoughts
I am trying to encourage an Intelligent creative entrepenure to take this idea on as a Personell challenge to prove to the world and them self they are cleaver/creative buiness minded folk
I have leaped over mountains in my day, and are sure many others can and have also
I have supplied the fuel! Now it is time for some one to light it:banana:

The beauty of this idea though is that in one fell swoop you're marketing to/in 2 countries, one of which is much much bigger than NZ. Surely that has got to open possibilities? I mean how many threads are there about overseas bikers wanting to ship bikes to or hire bikes in NZ? Or the same with Kiwi's wanting to ride in Oz? Or wanting to know what to see in either place? Gotta be some opportunities with companies involved there? Bike hire, shipping, destinations, gear, secure lockups, accomodation etc etc there are lots of businesses that could benefit from exposure in specific motorcycling environment.
Speaking as a proud Kiwi who lived in Oz for 17 years I followed any Kiwi sporting endeavour over there, so anything remotely Kiwi related would appeal to the large number of Kiwi's over there....and with recent events the exodux to Oz is only growing in number. And the Kiwi's over there still love a bit of Kiwiana, we'd drive 45min's just to get a hit of Krispies, L and P, pineapple lumps, Griffins or Hansell products, paua fritter etc etc every now and then, and the "Kiwishop" and "Kiwi Fish and Chip Shop" we went to did a roaring trade. There's a nationalism and pride that should be easy to exploit, it's just itching for somewhere to spend it's newly earned Ozzie dollars.
Our local bottle store started stocking Kiwi wine because my missus made a few enquiries about cheap NZ savvy's....and there are no alcoholic advertising restrictions in bike racing as there are here. Gotta be something worth exploring there with our local NZ producers wanting to tap into a potentially huge market? Beer and bikes, it's a match made in heaven!
There's also a skills shortage in Oz, they are struggling to get the staff required for their resource projects, and to fill positions left by people going off to work on those projects. There's gotta be an employment agency keen to exploit the poorly paid skilled labour market in NZ who are crying out for something other than their crap NZ wages? Put it out there, offer them some exposure.
So there are plenty of things to market on both sides of the ditch, whether it's re-location assistance, holidays, products, services, bike parts (Aussie bike wreckers are awesome!) etc etc. Think Australasia, not just NZ, Think Kiwi businesses who would like to tap into the Oz market, or Oz businesses who can offer something hard to get or expensive in NZ. Even companies like Ebay Oz would benefit from exposure in NZ, we're closer to the Eastern States than WA is yet not many folks use it here.
So even just thinking about it for 5 minutes there are heaps of avenues to explore.

PS to others, I always read the full thread, but only reply to the posts by folk who are being constructive, time is money after all, and I am not wasting any of either of them!
