View Full Version : Where is the F4 '#1 plate' going to live after the GP?

The potential winners are aplenty.
I'm not sure who is going to be there but there are HEAPS of riders that have the potential to grab the #1 plate from Andrew Adlam.
So,
Which region is the plate going back to?

This thread was meant to be a poll but my internet decided to go wonky at the wrong time.
Oh, well. Question remains.
Yeah, I realise it is redundant and people will just champion their home club.

I'd say the only question is which bedroom in the Hoogie household is it going to be in!

Hmm. lets check the history books. Question; When in the last 20 or so years has a SI'dr won the national GP in either F4 or F5?
That would be never wouldn't it?
So either statistically there must be some sort of odds that it might happen one day with some sort of blind luck sort of thing.
Or maybe it just ain't happening.

I guess the sub question is; Will a 2 stroke win it this time? Its been a long time between drinks despite the utter complete domination for over 3/4 of the history of buckets.

Hmm, as much as a fan as I am of 2 strokes I'd have to say that recent history favours diesels...
As for the Hoogie factor: Talented, no doubt at all. Long track experience and setup, totally. Na, Welly riders still have my backing.
Next comes Grant From Hawkes bay if he gets a way faster bike.

Oh, I know they are fast and they have great chance of winning... but so is Adlam, Rich, Veltmyer, Rick, Tim and Mr Duff.
If Nigel Duff does get out there with his bike and it lasts the race (two big ifs...) then that may be it...
And that's not allowing for possibilities like a fast ring-in showing up Green's #6.

You know they (Hoogies) lapped Rich at BoB, aye ....
And also before the main race James Hoogie on the Repsol was annoyed that his bike was quite flat and not really revving out like it should. And
Al Hoogie (black #43) geared his bike up so it wouldnt rev so much. He was concerned that BoB followed by Greymouth then Taupo might be a bit much and the Taupo GP was definately his target.
If his bike doesnt blow up he should be fine :).

The southern pansies camping at the track? If so we might be able to cripple them with our traditional night before track walk.

Yeah, I saw the vid.
I've seen them race before. Those CBR's are real weapons.

Great race tactics, you get me with that attack every time!

Unfortunately I get myself as well.
Maybe Next time we should both be disciplined and stick to drinking carrot juice. Clear head and all that. Might improve the lap times by a tenth or so, not sure it would be more fun though.

That don't mean shit.
My race was over when I hit the deck and broke the gear lever off and then the clutch die. And then I started feeling old. And then and then and arhh who gives a fuck. I just wish the fun we were having at the front lasted longer. But hey tomorrow we can do it all again. Lets see how that turns out. But I am sure there is still time for more bullshit before the flag drops.

And That would be Wellington.
. . . Along with the F5 one. (actually I didn't even get the trophy, Avalon forgot to bring it).
Did they do a prize giving at the end? I was kind of keen to get going.

Yep they did a prize giving.
Also announced that the GP next year is March at Taupo track two as part of the super bike round.

Dave, someone grabbed your trophy, can't remember who though, but no doubt you'll get some of the loot. Congratulations on your hollow victory, it was a shame there wasn't any competition for you, but hopefully next time you'll get a battle.
Thanks to all the organisers for a great day's riding, was a lot of fun. Shame the weather didn't come to the party, but that's Taupo. I can sometimes see the attraction to the place, but not that often. A huge thanks to all of those marshalling in the crap conditions, without you we couldn't have gone and played.
I have to say those drift cars confused the heck out of me at the start of the day, and I'd often get a bit sidetracked by them and their smoke.

Is that for real that the next GP will be in Taupo in March 2012?
Yesterday's GP was the GP for the 2011/12 race year (ending June 2012). So that would mean 2 GPs in the same racing year?
Back in 2008 we had a GP in May for 2007/8 & then again in December for 2008/9, but they were in 2 different racing years.
Anyway I will be happy to be back on track 2. Just need to book the fine weather. Clearly I have forgotten how to ride in the rain.
Congrats to Andrew & Dave.

From the MNZ website:
2011 New Zealand Miniature Road Race GP
6th November 2011 hosted by Pacific Motorcycle Club, at Track Three Taupo.
Next years will be the 2012 GP title, same meeting as the last round of the NZSBK.

Well 22ish laps would be a half hour race. That would be cool.

8th November 2011, 11:19
Out of interest, did the Pacific club take a dive on this last GP? I mean I suppose the reduced number of trackday riders due to weather & possibly publicity would have reduced the take. But 40 entrants qualified for F4 so that's 4k straight off. + F5 + trackday riders.
Just when the largest class gets mixed in with the bigger bikes we get a raw deal track time to participants wise. Is this a financial necessity? The model this GP was run on was quite beneficial in that regard. Can we not continue this way?

Nigel mentioned at prize giving that he wants a similar amount of track time for the event in March as we had for the event just gone.
Its back across to Track 2 on March 24th & 25th, book it in! Hopefully enough time for you to get that 100 ready and yourself race fit. Can always use Round 3 of the BRM Summer Series as a bit of practice at Taupo.

yeah I should have gone to the prize giving but had to make a track to get back to the fandamly at a reasonable hour (about 9:30 as it turned out), feel sorry for the SI guys bobbing around on a boat.
Hopefully the 100's issues are restricted to a failed flywheel arrangement & I've ebayed a new one.
