Could hardly believe it. I had just entered the roundabout and captain dickhead in his fancy XR6 (or something like it) decides to pull out on me. All good hes going slow so he must be turning left and there are two lanes (im in the right lane he would have been left) so i can just fall in behind. Except hes not turning hes going straight on through. He looks right out his window and sees me. Instead of carrying on through which would have been fine he must have panicked and comes to a full stop blocking both lanes of the roundabout.

Must have come within a few cms of scratching the nice orange paint. No time for horn. Just a shake of my head as he looks in the mirror and off we both go.

People pull out of roundabouts on me all the time. Most of them just accelerate away so it's fine. Never had someone come to a complete stop and block the road though.

I was on the inside going to head down past noel leemings he came from the left going to the right in outside lane (left).

One of Hamiltron's many multi-laned roundabouts. This one's especially good cos while there are 2 lanes around the roundabout, each entrance and exit merges down to one lane within a few metres of it.

For a town with a shitload of roundabouts, Hamiltron's residents are pretty damn shit at indicating correctly or negotiating them safely :facepalm:

Had on old biddy in one of them bubbly looking cars try and stealth run me over this morning. Was going straight along the top of a T intersection as she tried to turn right from the bottom bit, she just kept slowly coming out (I was on the electric and only doing 30 myself), real sneaky like. She almost had me but I scooted past when she was only just had the corner of her bumper in my lane. She looked a bit shocked that I got through I think, and she slowed down a bit.

I know of two people who have had accidents at that particular roundabout. First was a twit in a JZ/MA70 Supra pulling straight out in front of my mate's car. Right into the drivers door. No serious injuries.

Second one another friend was turning right at the roundabout, came around the roundabout and the ditzy cow who was waiting decides to do the sneaky left turn and then tries to head up the steep hill road (can't recall the name) to the right of the lake road exit. Cuts across my friend who is on the brakes steering right to avoid the crash and he messes up his wheel and steering/suspension, no damage to said ditzy cow.

On the other hand if you think Hamiltonians can't manage roundabouts try living in CHCH. This roundabout (http://g.co/maps/ebn64) coming straight through (NE bound) I used to regularly have to break or swerve to avoid putting a BMW 540i sized hole in the driver's side of some dick heading home from the airport! And yes, I've had more than one person do exactly as you have described. Horn, brakes FINGER!

I have a list of places where people routinely ignore the road rules on my commute. Carlton Mill Road becoming two lanes is a prime example, use the left lane with caution and don't ffs rip up the inside... a bleary eyed had one coffee driver only sees the free turn sign from the right hand lane :facepalm:

I just use that knowledge to better to avoid the bad drivers by as much as possible, just riding how and where I'm legally entitled will just see me tipped. That'd probably be high of my list to tell a learner before sending them out in traffic, especially if they've been a car driver for a while.

Last week had a Range Rover pull out in front of me from being parked at the side of the road. (No indicator; and I wasn't alert enough to have noticed the driver and predict the event.)

The car ahead of me (good following distance) had passed him, and he must have seen that car coming, and not me, so just barged out after that car went past without re-checking.

At first I was annoyed that I couldn't give him the Stiebel until after the full-on emergency stop. But then I realised that if I'd beeped, he might have braked - and I probably would have ended up hitting him.

(Couldn't go 'round as it was just before the crest of a hill, and no way to know there wasn't a car coming the other way.)


((Many years ago, did T-Bone a car (in my car) on a roundabout when it didn't give way, and yes, he'd stopped when he saw me. If he'd kept going I probably would have made it past behind him.))

Park Terrace towards the hospital, indicator goes on right to turn into the botanical gardens car park, cars promptly turns left.

It's only because of the kindness of my pure heart that that car still has both side mirrors.

Yeah .. I've hit a car that did that - panicked and stopped - blocking the road ... if they hadn't have stopped I might have been able to avoid it ..
