As I was heading home this evening I saw what I thought was a bike approaching me in the opposite direction, there was only one headlight so what else could it be? To my bitter disappointment it turned out to be a cager (http://faqlight.carpassion.info/images/99-new-beetle-front-side.jpg) with his front LH light out!!

It's kinda like seeing a long haired woman walking down the street and as you pass her from behind you check out her smile only to find out she's a he...yuck!

Don't you just hate that! :pinch:

I have noticed a lot lately headlights blown on cages lately as well.
Least you can see the parking light mind you (if its working)
I’m guessing is either the cold weather blowing the bulbs (Just a guess) or the fact more people get there warrants done in the summer time... or maybe because the petrol price has gone up.

I'm forever pulling up cages with that light out and explaining how bad it is and how it looks like a motorbike - always give then 7 days compliance to get it fixed!! - AND explain it would be best to get it done as soon as!!

Oh, they get the ticket alright - but they don't have to pay if they fix it, fair enough??

Also depends on their attitude.

Are you allowed to tell people about the tikets you give out then SD? Spose it must be OK if you dont give there names. If you are, give us some good stories about the fuckin boyracer types, you must have a few of those.

Oh, got some goodies o.k - like the guy on his Triumph doing 95kph in a 50kph area, said he was doing that speed 'cos the chips he had just bought had steamed up his visor so much that he could not read his speedo, he also said he wanted to get home to have his chips hot, hence the reason for his speed.

Asked where 'home' was and he said 'Bluff' - about 165km further south!!!!!

Headlights blowing must be a common thing. Everytime I go out at night I never fail to see several cars with only one headlight.

lol that'll teach ya for perving!

I often see cars with only one headlight... it's so dangerous for all road users, and most times it's as simple as buying a cheap bulb to replace... :weird:

I just love the idiots who have a blown headlight and stick their working headlight on highbeam to compensate! Dicks!

I think this is more commonly that the dip beam filament has gone, so they switch to high beam, since then both headlamps work. Not sure whether to condemn that or not, at least you can see it's a car.I've done it on a bike when the dip beam failed, better a pissed off motorist than one who doesnt know you're there at all (and yes, of course, fix headlamp ASAP. But you still have to get home/to servo ) I suppose if the nearside is out, just leave it so, if the offside is out, better to use main beam. Really clever people would see you coming, flash the main beams for a moment so you realise that it's a car, then go back to the Nelson look.

That's the problem - cheap bulbs.Customers demand cheap bulbs,so I buy the cheapest shit I can find...then they blow, duh! If I try to supply a quality bulb they come back with - ''what a rip off,I can get one at Repco for.....''
Stop lights are another common bulb that blows, sitting at lights with the brake on overheats them,I buy the cheapest bulbs I can get, charge $2 and fit them for free, most people think that's a good deal. But some cars, like Hondas are notorious for going through stop light bulbs - so I stock a high quality Wurth bulb,German and they don't blow.....but I charge for them too.

Good point, get what you pay for.
