Bucket Racing, Mt Wgtn, 16 & 17 July

Well it's on again this weekend. I'm planning to pay a visit on sat morning at least. If anyone really wants to try it out come and see me and take the mighty bucket for some laps. Hopefully it won't be pissing down.

Went for a quick look today as well. No crowd of mini-motos like on Saturday. Minis seem like a really good idea when you see whole families including Mum lining up. Dad had the loudest bike I've heard on the track for a long time. Anyway, today there was a pretty good turnout including some "name" riders. Dave Diprose had his new bucket with the FXR150 engine in it. Being the good boy that he is he has a HUGE muffler on it but is still exceeding the noise limit by a couple of db. The motor is untouched but even then was good enough to win all the races I saw. Dave was complaining about the weight of the bike now with the new motor, it's up to 92Kg I think he said. When he has his ass planted on it the all-up weight is starting to climb. Karl on his 125T is still a few kilos less. Thee were a few new faces as well. One was riding a very nice faired TZR50. The original owner used to race it with the fairing as well, and he used to fall off it all the time and wreck the fairing so it was good to see the new guy keeping up the tradition. One older "new" face by the name of Bob on a GP125 was getting round pretty good in the wet.

Wendy and John and the usual helper persons were running things as usual for which everyone owes them a big "Thank You".

Without mentioning names, I did get a few shots of one particular incident involving a young jet-setting up and coming road racer having a wee rest. It wasn't the only time he had a lie down either.

What kind of frame does he have the FXR motor in? what's the noise limit for the track and is it always checked or is some leniency shown??

TZR50 chassis with I think TZR250 wheels and big brakes. The noise limit is around 90db measured at a certain spot back from the track. John is pretty leniant. There has been a bit more bother lately with local moaning bastards, or maybe just one.

The FXR was Waaay over when he first trialed it. Noise regulations are going to become more of an issue so we must self police.

Has there been any amendments to the 2 stroke regs?

Nothing important, just the 150 rule let in GL145s & CB125s etc are hard to find pistons to make them 140 so it was a silly kind of rule.

FXRs are however let in & it will be interesting to see how they pan out.

Well if you look on the back of his leathers it says in fairly big writing Karl Morgan, so one would assume it to be him :rofl:

Or someone who has borrowed Karl Morgan's leathers, but yeah think it was him...have a look around Ruapuna sometime, I'm sure there are some ex Simon Crafer leathers getting around, and 2 or 3 ex Andrew Stroud.
Theres a FXR150 motor on Trade Me, actually seen a couple now....
