I have heard from Finn at BRONZ to say that there is a course being run this Sunday (July 17th) and one on July 31st for those whose last course was cut a little short.

I'm going to do the one on the 31st, so if anyone will be requiring first aid on the day, please notify me in advance so I can bring my rubber gloves. :devil2:

shame met was wrong, the storm being last night didnt come today. was actually kinda nice.

with luck biker gods will give us good weather for 31st. im not big on doing it in thunderous rain. Finn said hes fine doing it in rain just not high winds

Can you think of better and safer wet weather riding experience??

PS:This is not a :Pokey: at you, just trying to point out this fact to the others who may stay home if it rains.

No I do agree. although perhaps a dry session and a wet session would be ideal its not possible. Im much more confortable riding in the wet now than 3 months ago (since I communte and its winter) and the runway doesnt have man-holes or white paint on it.

and the best thing is. I can do my emergency stop (back wheel lock up) without fear of damage and much easier.

ok so maybe I have been practicing locking up my back wheel. on my bike its harder than you might think, Im pretty sure it needs calibrating since it squeals like a pig at anything under 25kph.

but its definatly fun, only managed 1/2 -> 1 sec at a time at the moment. different surfaces have a different effect on my tire. concrete driveway = straight skid whereas ashphalt road = slides out to the right ussually.

I got a call from them on Saturday afternoon (while washing and waxing and polishing my bike) and confirmed for both Sam and I to be there on the 31st (I think).

Will we have to do the whole course again from the start?

Then the more reason to go and redo it...
It may just save your life by knowing how to do it properly.

How full up is the course? Room for 2 or 3 more? (2 definitely interested, but I'd like to figure out whether to twist a friend's arm or not for this one).

I keep wanting to play with the cats' eyes, but figured maybe that would be a bad thing. Bummer is they've taken the cones away from by work - that did get some funny looks & I'm sure after they spotted me they changed the spacing - spoil sports.

And ask them how full they are, they may have some spaces left :)

Crashe: Yeah I know it's a good thing to re-do it all... I don't mind too much, as long as I don't screw up on the stuff we've already done lol...

*wants to do cornering*

*not so keen on the emergency braking either*

Just come back from the course......if you were thinking about it , do it now . Well worth it. The course is made up of several components some theory and some practical, and all worthwhile. gives you an excellent opportunity to confirm what you thought you knew, and secondly see where you need practice and if your variuos approaches to riding work

Second that SPB. It was an excellent day. Even redoing the first half of the day before continuing on to the new stuff was great. Really good one-on-one instruction where needed, plenty of time to get it right as well as stuff for newbies and not-so-newbies. :ride:

So his bike is all fixed?

Thats great that he went first...

Have they changed the way they do the counter steering or do they still have the guy standing there?

I didnt go so I dont know but I offered to build them (yes with kiwi inginuity (sp) and no.#8 wire) a thing to do it. but It would be more hazardous than a person for the rider.

I was gonna make it out of like, maleable material that would break on impact..... therefore securing a lucrative niche market hehehe

Yeah right, he's having you on PF. He wasn't even there last time.

It has changed a bit and although I was nervous (edit: very nervous), it was actually much better and a lot easier. They have lengthened the cones so you have heaps more time to react. The instructor is still standing there but is now wearing motorcycle gear and an orange helmet. It would be pretty hard to get this one wrong. Me thinks a few demons were buried yesterday.
