Just watched QP. Seeing Stoner drifting through the last turn onto the straight to take pole a full second ahead of anybody else... amazing.

If it is dry then it will be the usual scrap for the minors while Stoner runs away with it.Bring on the rain I say.

If I remember rightly, Stoner was pretty handy in the wet as well this year. 15 second win at Silverstone, wasn't it? I think everyone's gonna have a hard time getting near Casey, wet or dry, if he gets the holeshot. Still, it'll be a good final race of the 800s.

many people seem to think that whens the pressure is off Casey is even faster. He certainly seems to be responding to that theory.I hope we see a good race,Pedrosa and Dovi have something to race for,Bautista has something to prove and does Rossi and Hayden.Id its wet i dont expect there to be much different up front (as Silverstone showed) but it could certainly make the above mentioned scenario a bit closer

Oh dear, I just realised how old I'm getting. Paris Hilton was making home videos before Maverick was even born!

Probably wouldn't stop her doing him though.

Cunty conditions in GP2, just spots of rain but it looks like it makes it greasy as feck.

Thanks for that, was disappointed when coverage on sky started just after it finished.

Moving to say the least. I am always the last guy to get into the whole RIP bit, but ciao Sic it won't be the same without you.

He managed to create great drama in the race for the win, that he had so effortlessly guaranteed for himself in the first few laps.

Hats off to him for the season, it has been an exhibition of near total domination. To set himself up for a last corner drive to the line in the last race for the last win... :niceone:

Good on her for sponsoring our sport and her boy didn't do too bad for a rookie :2thumbsup

Interesting post race comment from David Emmett of Motomatters, Ducati are moving to a narrower angle V for 2012.

I was gutted with the first corner pile up taking out four of the potential podium contenders but then it just seemed to sum up Ducati's year... top three Duc's fail to complete first turn. Let's hope they get it back together for 2012.

Stoner is now the complete racer I reckon. He can fuck off out front and win, he can stalk them from behind then win. He can win wet, dry and when it's both in the same race.

Only gonna get worse for the rest next year.

I thought the whole Valencia thing was bizzare.
David Emmett summed it up best (as usual) on his website.http://www.motomatters.com/analysis/2011/11/07/2011_valencia_motogp_sunday_round_up_t.html
Paris Hilton on the podium getting the trophy. Terol the World Champ
Moto2 the usual craziness.
The first lap incident in MotoGP and me thinking oh dear this will be a bore fest only for it to be one of the more exciting races of the season with the closest finish of the year.
So Casey Stoner lead the first lap of the 800's (Qatar 2007) and the last lap of the 800's (Valencia 2011).

Glad that we have Summer here when the MotoGP season is on holiday.
What do those poor Europeans do??!!

Casey Stoner is the undisputed CHAMPION of the 800cc era. End of Story.

Bet he can now tell Honda (and Yamaha etc etc) what he'd like to be paid in 2013.

He's earnt every cent.

My heart sank also. Those were the exact conditions for Rossi and the Ducati, for this year anyway.
Here's hoping the narrow 'V' is part of the answer and whatever (hopefully) they have improved on.
Motogp badly needs change, closer performing grids and with maybe 10 more.

I see Suzuki let De Puniet ride the 800 against the Thous at Valencia. First time out, he was 4th quickest behind Pedrosa, Stoner and Spies. Nice work!!!

Yep saw that.
Maybe we'll see GP looking like Moto2 in a couple of years, seems to be going that way.
Did you win another $100 on Boner this year ? I saw Steve Sunday at breakfast and he isn't taking any more bets, quit while ahead, he reckons.

It was almost Spies race, good to see another bike than the Honda pushing for the lead!
0.015 secs is close!
The Honda's have got some serious pace, testing of the 2012 bikes show they still have the advantage at this early stage.
They seem to have everything covered, and no doubt the best electronics package around!

as part of the group i was with we got a tour of the ducati two seater pits, and a quick glance though the ducati main pit from Randy Mamola, he said the biggest difference between the honda's and the rest was the gearbox, it was said that the gearbox alone is 750,000 euro and changes twice as quick as anything else, giving the honda a acceleration advantage,

Hahaha...Stoner won me two cartons of Steinies and a hundy for the bet, plus a few hundy from the tab before the odds got too short!

It is really cool to watch them power slide, but is it really ideal in terms of pace, tyre wear, and fuel economy though?

Yep. It's also the best way to finish a corner off and hold a tighter line on the way out.

Noticed how Stoner has won at Phillip Island the last five years? One of...if not THE fastest track in the world. Riding sideways everywhere? Also...sideways generates less heat into the tyre than wheels in line generally. It normally only generates more surface heat.

Same for fuel economy. Once the thing has broken loose...no real load on the engine.
