I have been looking at a few 650 ADV bikes..
Looking at this... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/dual-purpose/auction-415751924.htm
Are there any issue with them ?
Anything I should know ?
The only thing that is off putting is the injection..
computer + water + mud etc....:eek5:
its lighter & lower seat than a DR or KLR.."only just"

Anything I should know ?
Yes. You should know that they are the absolute business (short of paying twice as much for a 690 enduro)!
Injection is a pro, not a con. All bikes have electrics, having EFI is no more susceptable than any other bikes electrical system.

Don't know much about that beast..
But, did do a few K's on Barts Dr 650 two weeks ago...turned-out to be a lot of fun on the gravel:niceone:

Rode my mates one. It was crap around 50kms or at the lites with the fuel injection- very jerky. Above commuting speed it was fine. off road it was like a dirt bike. I think their lack of popularity is from their initial shopfloor price - you weren't getting that much more for a lot more money compared to a DR or KLR.

How was the bottom end punch ?
What ever I do..first I need to see one
& get a idea how easy the mounting will be...
It looks like the ex pipes will need to be replaced
with a 2 into 1 system down the right side...
As I would like a leaner .. so need to connect it
under the centre line of the bike.... am sort of
thinking a 6mm stainless skid plate to put the
pivots on....

Yes. You should know that they are the absolute business Complete crap. From Adv'ers who've tried them and gone back to other bikes, they're terrible.

I ride one goes really well but it has been blinged up with
2 into one pipe ( saves a shit load of weight)
Power commander ( stops the surges)
Risers on the handle bars
OTR bash plate.
You can get prices for the bits from OTR who specialize in XT660s in Germany.
It is a lot more comfortable than DRs I have riden.

:(..... :Oi: what didn't they likeCan't remember, not interested enough to, all I bothered remembering was to strike it off the list of potentials. Google some stuff, eh?
They should have been a more modern version of a DR: pretty much identical spec but better everywhere since they are 20 years newer. Instead, they're heavy and apart from FI offer very little to tempt an adventure rider off the existing older bikes. Fail.
One review pretty much raved about the power and how much of an animal it is... yet it's 30+ kgs heavier than an LC4 and not only down on power (up on torque less) but it's a lot peakier!! Bizarre. A DR would dick all over it under 5000rpm.

The Pampera is nothing like as high strung as the motorcross 450s. It's more like a DRZ400.
