Hey guys, gonna go for a ride round the coro loop, via the hunuas, hopefully with a visit to cooks beach, on a friday a few weeks from now from Auckland. Just wondering if there were any suggestions on places to visit, time to take etc.
Also is the route to New Plymouth via SH39 and 3 any good? Thinking it might make for a good long distance ride.

39/3 is awesome. Even better if you find a decent "rabbit".
Iirc Te Kuiti is pretty much the last stop for gas before New Plymouth. Wouldnt chance riding out of TK with the fuel light on

Coro loop is a great ride, though I'd strongly suggest you do it on a weekday as the roads get quite busy on weekends.

Tis a good ride. When you return, go through SH43 (Forgotten Highway) via Stratford. It's about a 1000km round trip... ish, depending on roads you take of course.

there is a gas station just before Awakino then another in Urenui, filling up in tk will get you all the way down though

Avoid the weekend/holiday period if you can for the Coro, too many GP wannabes and four wheel maniacs! Remember to take some supplies (like tyre repair kit) and have adequate sleep beforehand!
Keep your fluids up, eat when you're hungry and remember that life is like a box of chocolates! :msn-wink:
