Because Moto GP, as you should know, is as tough as it gets, and Ant West (or anyone for that matter) on a CRT bike ain't gonna cut it.

I'll tell you why you fuck around when you have to say. Regardless of what Mr West and obviously yourself think mate, top level motorcycle racing is a team sport. Everybody in that garage is doing the best they can with what they have available. Now, when it goes wrong and things don't go as planned, jumping up and down about how your team need to get their act together and give you better equipment is not only unproffessional, it's fucking rude. If one of my employees was to sing from the rafters to the media about what a lousy workplace they had and how shit their co workers were because we had a bad day, I wouldn't renew their contract.
Not calling anyone a moron, but I can tell you right now that if there's some decent wet races, we'll see Ant West have some semi decent rides, but we'll also hear a whole lot about how crap his CRT bike is and how he needs the same equipment as Stoner so he can teach them all how it's done.
In fact, I'll put a box of Heinekins on it if you're keen mate.

On that note - did you read:
Why we're forced to go down the CRT path, whether we like it or not! :weep: :weep:
Suzuki's withdrawal from MotoGP illustrates perfectly why Dorna and IRTA have elected to pursue the CRT project. When the series switched to four-stroke engines in 2002, the manufacturers - assembled in the MSMA - were given control of the technical regulations, on the understanding that they would provide a plentiful supply of machines to fill the grid with. The spiralling cost of racing four-stroke engines, made exponentially worse by smaller capacities and limiting fuel to just 21 liters, saw manufacturers pull out, Aprilia leaving after just three years of four-stroke racing, Kawasaki holding on until 2008, and only fielding a single bike in 2009 after pressure from Dorna to fulfil their contract. Suzuki's withdrawal leaves just three of the original manufacturers in the series, with Honda, Yamaha and Ducati fielding factory prototypes in 2012. Without CRT, there would be just 12 bikes on the grid for 2012, the teams simply no longer able to afford the exorbitant lease prices charged by the factories for their machines, anywhere between 2.5 million and 4.5 million euros a year.>

Here we go
The Speed Master team has confirmed its entry as a CRT in the MotoGP category for the 2012 season, with Anthony West its chosen rider for the step up to the premier class.
Australian rider West has previous MotoGP experience, most recently in 2008, and has been riding in the Moto2 class for the past two seasons with MZ Racing.
The 30 year-old’s crew chief on the Speed Master team will be Tommaso Raponi, and the team has announced it will run with an Aprilia engine with a chassis yet to be confirmed.
West’s first season in the premier class was on board a Honda 500cc in 2001, and he rode the majority of the 2007 campaign and the entire 2008 season in the MotoGP category for Kawasaki.

Correct me if I'm wrong , but I was told that Ants dad is rich, rich, rich ..... some sort of plumbing import/export/multiple store outlet thing.

Since leaving MotoGP, West competed in World Supersport in 2009 and Moto2 in 2010-11. He has made 34 starts in Moto2 over the last two seasons, with no podium finishes. He did record his best Moto2 finish, fourth, in the 2011 season finale at Valencia.

I still can't get my head around how a guy like West and for that matter Vermuelen can be so quick on wet tracks. When traction is at a premium that is a great leveller of horsepower, thus the best rider wins. And both those riders have pulled some blinders.
Perhaps to level the horsepower field it should be mandatory for all tracks to be fitted with sprinklers. That would give the CRT bikes a bit of a chance too.

It's hard to understand Bill, always wondered why they couldn't translate that skill onto dry tracks. Maybe they are just more prepared to push and risk a result.(or it's a confidence thing. You see Bradley Smith push in the wet).
At the other end of the scale I loved the rain as a young fella and indeed prayed for it at times. As an old man I dread it and in fact won't even go out.

It's not necessarily that the best rider wins in the wet, just the guy that's the best at riding on that surface on the day. Some guys on the world GP moto-x circuit are the best in the mud, some on hard pack, some on sand. Sand is where I learnt to ride, and I think that makes you good in the wet. Feels very similar to me.
