Does it piss anyone else off when you see a car go down the road in twilight with no headlights on BUT THE FUCKING FOGLIGHTS ON!!
Seems mostly to be commonwhores and Subaru STD's, sorry STi's. Theres no fog, dumbass. I mean its OK if your lights are rooted but turn you headlights on. Idiots
Dont know what the law is over here regarding foglights but in the UK if the visiblity is over 100m they are illegal to use.

Its the back fog lights that get me, are they stopping? Wheres the fog? Cant help but look at them either.
Dont give a toss about the front ones, the wankers that drive about on wet, dark mornings with no lights at all in there black/gray, dark coloured cars need a good slapping tho.

oi! my subby has front fogs.. I actually think it's better driving with those on instead of the main lights on, cos it's not as blinding to oncoming traffic. In most suburban areas, street lighting makes it more than adequate to see where you're going.. Out in the sticks, then the more light you can get the better..
The ones that really piss me off is following cars that have their rear fog lights on.. those damn bright red lights just fuck me off no end..

It is now law not to use fog lamps unless visibility is severely reduced...like,fog.There is a settling in period, expect some action soon from the cops. Those rear fogs are a real pain, but drive in fog and you can see the benifit.

Front fog lamps illuminate the road ahead in foggy conditions, both at night and during the day. They give off a short, wide beam of light that is designed to shine through the fog, lighting up the area directly in front of the vehicle and helping the driver see the sides of the road better.
Rear fog lamps
Some vehicles are fitted with rear fog lamps, which are very bright rear-facing red lights designed to make the back of the vehicle more visible in fog.
Saw nothing about this on the LTSA site, but what about those spot lights mounted up front on 4x4.
Do they need them on when city streets are already well illuminated?
Aren't they only supposed to be used for hunting trips, etc.

I disagree, so many fog/driving lights seemed to be adjusted to illuminate Uranus that it's not funny.

It's only a matter of time before it's cool to have floodlights installed on your 4x4s or Big Boring Exhaust cars

Too many of these lights are just a big glare - they don't light up the road more than 10-15 metres on front of the car but they sure as hell piss you off when riding towards them when they're still 100 metres + away!!!
If you cut the wires to them I bet most of those owning cars with those lights wouldn't notice the difference.
Plus a lot of those extra lights get knocked out of alignment - straight towards you eyes when heading towards them, argh!!!

That's what fog lights are supposed to do. Not designed as driving lights. That's why you're not supposed to use them unless there is fog. Dish out some tickets

Under the current regulations any additional lights such as these must be wired in such a way that are automatically switched off when the main lights are dipped. As it is a requirement to drive with dipped headlights in a built up area then these lights should never be used in city streets.
I have the ones on my 4x4 wired so that I can select them on or off with high beam, but they are always off when on dipped beam.

New laws on lighting and how you can use it came out a few months ago,you can get an information booklet from your WoF provider as we were all supplied with them - mine sit on the counter and no one has taken any, which explains the ignorance here I guess....and on the road.
I can talk - my driving lamps are totaly illeagal, they are not driving lamps at all but auxillary headlamps....so when I dip my lights, the driving lamps do too, great for country roads when dipping your lights means going from 4 search lamps to 2 piddly dip lamps.I only use them on country roads and just hope a cop doesn't see me dip my lights and still have 4 on.As I'm driving in fog now I am going to fit fog lamps to the Pajero, that'll give me 6 lamps - cool eh? and I can have all going at once leagaly.

Well. the latest rules actually abolish driving lamps completely! They are now auxiliary main beam headlamps. And in theory we are now restricted to only one!Idiots. Why is that everything the so called LT-SAFETY-A does is counter safety and makes things more dangerous. Stuff them, the second one's an auxiliary dip headlamp, officer. Yes you are allowed two officer. Here's the legislation officer.
You could legally have the headlamps, driving lamps and fog lamps on at once. Wouldn't want to though, cos it would have to be in fog, and the driving lamps would white you out.. As you know. :devil2:

well that's a different issue then, ay? Mine are ajdusted correctly, and all the lights are aligned perfect (I know this, cos no one has touched my car for that sort of stuff, and it just passed another WOF today with no issues)..
The ones that point the wrong way, then they should be twated.
It's just the rear fog lights that get me. Just so annoying. But how do you tell the driver in front, that their rear lights are on?

Honking big, VERY bright red light at rear, separately switched. Got one on my Pajero (came with it I didn't add it). Idea is othe rtraffic sees you in fog.

It's not called LTSA any more. They dropped the "Safety" bit and rebranded as LTNZ about 3 months ago.

As were on the usual topic of blaming cage drivers for the demise of civilisation as we know it, a casual Biff observation - Why is it that 90% of the vehicles that overtake me/you(?) on the motorway are 4 x fkwits, despite the fact that they account for less than 90% of the traffic volume as a whole, the same fkwits that also choose to ignore the common courtesy/legal requirment to use their sindicators? Is it an ego thing? Is it my imagination ?

Hey listen, around where I live far too many people are driving around at night with no lights on at all, either 'cause they're broken or the owners are too stupid to realise that when the big glowing ball in the sky recedes behind the horizon, it's time to flick the switch that makes the front of the car glow. I'd be happy if they could manage to work their fog lights let alone the head lights.

I'll go the big bullbars on the frount and rear and maybe a pair of spotlights (although I doubt it), but a big exhaust? No way, only a pillick who has never done any real offroading would actually do that. Remember, the bigger the exhaust= the bigger the arsehole.

Now that I'm on the open road a lot more I have a new thing that pisses me off on a daily basis - when I overtake another car or truck I give them the 2 sec gap before I pull in front, put my indicator on...then just as I'm moving to the left and check the left mirror I had just looked in - some prick has moved to my inside to undertake! I've just carried on coming over on a couple.Stupid pricks, they just have to get ahead of the vehicle in front no matter what.I hope a bike doesn't try it or they could be checking out the cheesecutter first hand.

I agree entirely. Ever since cars have had these extra lights fitted it has pissed me off that dickheads just use them all the time and not just in foggy conditions. They are mounted low so as not to reflect back off fog which means in clear conditions they shine straight at oncoming traffic. The usual people do this - boy racers, but there is an ever increasing group of dickheads driving Falcons and Commodores that all seem to have them fitted now and drive with them on.
If I was a gun toting kinda dude I would happily go around shooting them all out, just as well I'm not into guns eh!
