Copy and pasted directly from my Tardme ad (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=424152388&ed=true).
"Reluctant sale" doesn't even begin to describe my feelings over this.
Due to a change in family circumstances, and the addition of our first new member, my pride and joy is up for sale. I have owned this bike since new, and it has always been garaged, serviced at Triumph Dealers, with full service history, and the "big" service done at 20,000km. Never dropped, scraped or dinged.
Due to the amount of addition extras on this bike, I will be offering it for sale in two ways. If the price hits $11,000, or if the Buy Now is used, and lucky new owner will get all the extras, and their OEM equivalents included with the sale. If it goes for under $11,000 I will be fitting all the OEM gear back on the bike, and selling the good stuff separately.
- Neptune custom made twin, high dual pipes, with removable baffles. Sound like thunder ($1000)
- Triumph Seat cowl (with "The Trooper" Eddie Decal watching over your new pride and joy - easily removable if you are a wuss, and don't like Iron Maiden) ($200)
- Triumph Belly Pan ($400)
- Triumph Carbon Fibre Tank Pad ($110)
- Triumph Fly Screen & Visor ($300)
- Triumph Rear Hugger ($150)
- Maxton adjustable Rear Shock ($900)
- Carbon Fibre Heel Pads ($100)
- "Lane Splitter" Mirrors (only one is fitted, and required for WOF, but it comes with both) ($200)
- Adjustable Brake and Clutch Levers (Black with Red adjusters) ($80)
- USB Engine management cable (upload custom fuel maps or use the engine diagnostic software to cure any ills)
- Fender Eliminator (custom)
- Clear Tail Light with integrated Indicators ($200)
If you're looking at this, the Street Triple needs no introduction. One of the best engines ever created, an incredible chassis, with Street Fighter looks. You've read the reviews, so there's no point in me linking to anything.
Test Rides OK, but only with cash up front.
I'll try to get photos and a video up this weekend. Current pics are old.
I will actually cry when someone rides away into the sunset via the Rimutakas on this bad boy.

Nice bike and a bargain.:niceone:
(But you have more $$ tied up in the add-ons than I have in my whole XN85....)

Yep, 3 years of slowly adding on bits and pieces adds up pretty quick.
Guess i'll have to make do with making motorbike noises on the Rocking horse i'm building to keep me content for a few years.

Aww, what a cutie ... and I don't mean the bike. I went through selling a bike for family reasons 27 odd years ago. The pain goes soon enough ... overtaken by the other cool new things in your life.

Never... dinged.
What about the seat. You're not exactly a jocky old boy!
...Seriously though. Feel ya pain mate, having sold the "dream" bike (daytona) a couple of months ago, its not easy watching it go!

Let it go....
Life moves you through various stage and don't let regrets stop you enjoying them. Its a great time to be a dad and effort now directed to that fine young man will result in as much pleasure as you would ever get from a bike.
Keep your hand in and look at a project or a cheapie for giggles....

:cry: Awesome bike there Gubb. Did the sell the bike for the Family 5 years ago. Shame you are selling it but thats what being "the man of the house" is about. We worked on the theory of when I started getting jealous of Harley riders it was WELL past time I needed my own one again. By the way, I can confirm Neptunes on a Triple are AWESOME. Good luck (or not...) with the sale.

Believe me Gubb - if this is the saddest day of your life.
You have a lot to be thankful for. :msn-wink:

I named my kids Harley and Davidson because that's what they cost me.
Seriously being a Dad is the biggest thing you can do and you'll always be able to buy another bike later on.Very tasty bike there though.

Good looking kid there. Congrats.
My advise - keep the bike. Even if you only ride it every second weekend it is worth it. If you need a few immediate bucks sell some of the sparkle and pop the stock bits back on. I have seen far too many get out of riding based on having a child only to regret it and take years to regain the ability to purchase anything decent again.

+1 good advice. If you can afford to keep it - keep it. You WILL regret selling it.
When my 'mini me' was born (yeah yeah I know, the Disco has a child now lol) I got a late model Ford Mondeo - the stereotypical 'family sedan' and regret selling my bikes.
It's actually for sale now! (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=424200305&ed=true)

I agree with this also. If you can afford, keep it. Of course I've noticed that most people that want to keep their bikes and end up selling them is because they can't afford it.
We had 2 bikes and 2 cars. When we had our boy, shit happened and we sold the wifes car and her bike :) Since we only have 1 car I need the bike as a second mode of transport ;) I'm clever! Set it up so wifey can ride it and it's very unlikely it'll get sold. Sure, it gets ridden maybe a few times a month and it'd free up a heap of cash to make things a little more comfortable, but to be honest it makes us think about spending a lot more. Builds character I say. We've sold a heap of shit I've been wanting to get rid of too.
Just told my mate, who's only reason to sell his bike was because he doesn't ride it often enough, not to do it. He's a useless prick and needs to make time to get out there though. He enjoys it, he's just lazy. Actually, come to think of it, maybe he should sell it. Doesn't deserve it.

Believe me, if I didn't have to do this, it would be staying in the garage. Unfortunately going down to a single income, and have our living expenses increase hasn't been an easy task. I've already sold off the rest of the "toys". Whilst this is my current means of transoprt, it's just too pricey when everything is taken into consideration.
Rego, Tyres and Insurance alone adds up to more than we can comfortably afford.
Sadly my passion will be put on the back burner, although I may use some of the proceeds to get a cheap Bucket racer and stay involved to keep my skills up.

Gubb
so many of us have been down this road, kids, mortgages etc... What I'd suggest is maybe a decent 250 or a GS500 style bike? They are cheap to run, rego is less etc,,, It's what I did for a few years (cheaper bike) but never gave up riding.....

A bummer it had to go.
The last two bike pics are Stillwater. Great wee town, grew up there for the first 6 years of my life, it's a nice ride out there eh.
