I've been absent for close to 6 months now from the wonderful all-enveloping KB-bosom, and it's with a tinge of sadness that I must relay the information that procreating is not the wisest decision (purely from a financial view point).

I have to sell my baby (My Triumph, and not the actual baby, who is coincidently knows as Max). My last bike needs to be sold to make the rest of our lives financially viable. Rego, Tyres and running costs are just too much to handle at the moment. 'tis hard going down to a single income, with a mortgage and responsibility. Almost like being a grown-up.

I know I've got plenty of years of riding ahead of me, but for at least the next 5 years or so, riding is going to be an unobtainable dream. Funny things those sacrifices we make for the "greater good". Never though I'd be "one of those born-agains".

Thank you KB for the many friends I have made, experiences shared, wisdom gained, knowledge imparted, beers drank, and outrageous lies told. I suspect I'll still be lurking, as the temptation is too great, but I'm worried that It'll only prolong the pain.

Condolences on selling your bike but also congratulations on having bubs! You can always make more money and get another bike later on, and kids are a whole heap of fun too.

Yeah that discretionary income would be handy. I managed to convince the Mrs that the bike was the cheapest form of commuting :ride:

I've got your bike on my watch list and I am hoping that the succession of wankers who have looked at my boat (here) (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=423957683) delivers just one with a big enough chequebook, and who is not too scared of his wife, to actually buy it.

If so, I planned to head your way with my wallet newly-fattened.

Had to do the same thing when my sons were born - those were the days of Rogernomics and my dear friend Dr Brash sending mortgage interest rates to 20+ percent. I've always been good with timing.

Odd thing about rug-rats is they not only change your finances, they also change your outlook on life, and biking...

I used to ride a ZX9R back in the UK, several speeding fines and a couple of broken bones made me review things a bit, then I got married, and not long after the rug rats came along.

Thankfully enough I managed to hang on the the bike, though it changed shape ; I traded it in for a Yamaha Wildstar (more comfy for wife to go for a ride too).

When we moved here we sold up everything, and when I got a bike here it was a Harley.

I now just enjoy being on a bike for the ride. I don't feel like I need to be the fastest thing on the road anymore, and whilst a successful ride before might have been getting your knee down, I am now more than content to get home in one piece.... because that little fella will be waiting for you to come home...so you MUST come home.

Simple.

Call me a proud member of the pipe and slippers brigade if you wish, but it makes sense to me.

And now my rugrat is 8 years old, he's big enough to come for a ride too. Something great we can share together.

So hang on in there. OK you may sell up now, but it aint forever if you keep the desire alive!
