View Full Version : Buckets only day at Kaitoke

Hey everyone. I have an idea and am keen to see if everyone else is interested. If there was a buckets only day at Kaitoke before Christmas, would people be interested in joining in with that? That's all I am interested in knowing for now, I wouldn't want to take it further if there weren't numbers.
It would most likely be a Sunday and would be a typical sort of price I'm sure. I just figure it would be nice to have 1 more casual day of racing and a get together before Christmas and New Years. There is a club day on the 18th of December too, but that is with the Karts.
Let me know who is keen and I can look into taking it further. Even if we have the numbers, it might not be possible with the Kart Club (and possibly MNZ...?).

Hamish - You've got two B graders "in" if we can make it happen........#20 & #52 (let's hope Tim's new supersize rear sprocket arrives in time....)

I would be keen for sure.
You might be pushing it time wise, but no harm in asking if the numbers are there.

I'm sure there would be some new people and kids keen also if we ran a C grade also.

If there were a C grade I may think about coming. Got clearance to race again from my GP today.... :)

That's great news!!!
Yeah, I'm more than happy to slip on into C grade too and leave B grade to those who are doing 48-47 second laps...... WTF, B grade!!?? Mental.

At least 2 in my house. C grade would be great as I know some who are keen to have a lunge but are very inexperienced.

Keen as
I know a few people that wouldn't mind a crack in the 'C' class
Its a good way to introduce people to the sport

Ok cool it looks like there is more than likely very sufficient interest in a race day. Of course there would be a C grade.
I have sent emails to the kart club and to an appropriate MNZ official. I guess I will see how things go. 1 more day of buckets followed by some beers at the end of the day would be great. Especially for those who will be on holiday over Christmas and will miss the club day on the 18th of December.
If miraculously the event gets the go ahead, I would most likely need pre event entries.

Good luck with that (pre entries). Best way to do it, print out the entries, deliver them, wait for them to be filled out and move onto next address ;)
Skunk should've done that lol
Would love to come down, but won't be able to, until Easter.

Ok so the Kart club are happy for us to host an event there and have offered the 4th or 11th of December. I am currently still sorting plans with MNZ for this and it wont be easy because there are more people behind the scenes of MNZ events than I imagined!
DO PEOPLE PREFER THE 4TH OR THE 11TH??
Keep in mind that there is also a clubday on the 18th of December with the karts. I also need to make sure MNZ are happy to help out on short notice.
I would imagine costs would be roughly $30 for entry and $15 for a day licence if required. This is also just an estimation based on previous MNZ events at Kaitoke.
Hopefully in the next couple of days (tomorrow night if we're very lucky) the event will be confirmed and then the word will need to be spread and an entry form will be made available. If the event can't go ahead, see you all on the 18th!

Nice work so far.
I am happy with either day, but 11th would be my preference.

Ok everything is all good but I need a bit of help with a couple of things. I need a few MNZ officials such as a level 3 steward, level 2 clerk of the course and a club to run the event. I have 1 first aid person lined up but always room for more.
Does anybody know MNZ people like the ones I mentioned above that could help out? I am hoping that Vic Club can run the event and I am hoping it is not too late for MNZ to get involved. I am hoping to have things better sorted on Sunday night when I am confirming whether the event goes ahead or not with an MNZ official.
I will aim for the 11th, so pencil it in your diaries for now! :scooter:

Hamish, if you can get the appropriate MNZ level type CoC I am happy to run the marshalls for the day to ease the burden from them and you, I wouldn't ride in this case.
Sorry to be a bitch but you do realise that if you want to make this work you are going to not be able to ride that weekend, eh??
See if you can get hold of Bernie Harnett - He is pretty committed to making buckets work... him and I have also worked together to make bucket events happen and he may be happy to do so again??

I'm a level 2 Steward and doing the paper for clerk of course, so I'm no use on either count. Especially since I want to race as well. Lots of words to say can't help.

Some of those PMCC chaps must be hanging out for a race seeing as Roys Hill is off limits. They have some qualified geezers. I think that Skunk is the most qualified VMCC member at the moment and we need to get some more members certified so we can make this kind of thing happen more often.

Hamish, it's buckets so you should be OK with a level two steward.
I'd volunteer but it's a little out of my way.

Cool cool thanks for suggestions, I don't know any MNZ people except for one haha (and I don't expect this person to go out of their way for this event). I will be riding at this race meeting but I was hoping to do the boring stuff that Fish and Nigel do at every round. Basically lap scoring n shit really, give them a break. I have no MNZ qualifications so I'm no more help than lap scoring.
If anyone would like to PM me MNZ official numbers so I can see if they would like to help out, that would be great.

I have just been sent a very useful link to contact Wellington MNZ stewards. Didn't know that a list like that existed!! Cheers

Pretty sure that it's available on the MNZ website. Get it organised will ya, I been toying around with the bucket today, and if the jets I'm about to pick up do what they're meant to I should be ready to rock and roll.
Albeit on a shinko front tyre and the bridgy mag mopus on the back.
Pray for a dry track people or there will be bits of my bike strewn for miles!
