Then it will sound like a really loud GN250 and you will draw a lot of attention to yourself... Not something a lot of GN250 riders want to do btw...

BTW - I would not recommend doing this to a GN250. It will lower the resale value and unless you can back up the extra blat with some extra stomp, will make you look like a chump.... Just love it for what it is. An iconic trainer / commuter bike with a hat full of character.

Now - Squeezing a DR400 engine into the frame - Different story.... Very cool and make it as loud as you want...

Be happy with how it sounds. I've heard a few loud ones and don't think much of it. wait until you get at least a bigger bike that sounds good with a bit of noise.

on a GN to make it louder will result in a loss of power so al you will achive is a gutless, loud GN. Not a lot of point I would have thought

Dont listen to them. They just forget what its like to be on a 250. Make it loud by fittiing a cheap muffler from an accessories shop. Most stock them or can get them from a wholesaler and should be able to retail ya one for under $100. They are chrome and look fine. They usually come with spacers to make the inside of the muffler the same(ish) size as the outside diameter of the header pipe. It would take 30min to fit but i think you will need to hacksaw off the old muffler.

Ride loud ride proud .... Fuck it JUST RIDE>>>>>

forgotten what it is like to ride a 250 I have a 1x100, 2x125, 1x170, 1x200, and have a lot of experiance with GN 250's, having once ridden one 6500km in a week, for a $5 bet -(I won)
Altering the exhaust on small 4 strokes unless you are prepared to have something especially built by experts is a waste of time, and will result in a loss of power almost certainly. Most 4 stroke exhaust systems on japanese bike produce optimum horsepower, after market exhaust redistribute where the power comes in - since the GN does not have a lot of HP to play with there is little point in wasting your money - save it up and put it towards your next (bigger) bike.

GN's get you around and will go anywhere a bigger bike will go you just have to be prepared to sit on it longer. Also look on the brighter side, GN's have excellent resale value to learners after you, dont down grade that by hacking it about.

Do you mean that it is too noisy , and needs a replacement silencer? In which case either the Suzuki agents, or a wrecker ?

Or that you want to alter the exhaust note (presumably to make it louder). In which case I concur with Mr Lee Rusty and others, that it is not worth bothering. In theory you could fit a mega and spend ages messing about with pipe lengths and reverse cones and what not , to maybe get something that gave one extra horsepower.

And attracting the attention of Mr Plod by a noisy exhaust is not a good idea for a learner .

I must admit that a cammy single does seem to cry out for a barking megaphone, but , really, it's just not worth it.

[Li'l Ratty , if you don't stop muttering "Dunstall, Dunstall, radda radda radaa" over and over, I'll pull your ruddy spark plug lead off]
