Not for me, one of my friends is threatening to get a road bike and asked this question.
My response was "Gizza go?" but apart from the fact that I would love one (or an RS250) I know nothing.
Who's got one? Who's had one? Tales of derring do or woe and destruction (it might even be the same tale!) are welcome.
TIA.

Take care of them and they're fecking awesome.
Go bloody well for a 125, handle better than most people can ride. Plus, they look great.

For the price of a 125 you can get a decent 250.
Ok the 250 is way overkill but good luck selling the 125 to someone when your done. There was someone on here that tried for about a year to shift one.

Mully here on KB had one for sale, maybe still does. Send him a PM as since he got SMIDSY'd he's not on here much these days.

Will be a good height for said rider
Steep steering angle and race set up might not suit a learner, but then again it might :)

Never ridden the RS125 but own a RS250, got it after I got my full (I rode quite a few other bigger bikes but wanted something that sounded like it was powered by angry bees and that I could rev through the roof and still potentially keep my licence...)
I think it would be a lot harder sitting the restricted and full tests on it, it does not like sitting at 50 kmh I've found, and you would be leaving the tester behind at every set of lights/intersection/roundabout - my tester was having trouble keeping up with me when i was on a GN250.
Another two stroke sprotsbike I reckon looks sweet is the Cagiva Mito.

I have an 09 RS125 and let me tell you it is the best bike. It is a dream to ride every day.
I started on a 150 scooter to get my learners and moved up to the RS to get my restricted and full and have yet to sell as its just too fun. The bike has plenty of power and is easy to maneuver. Riding the rimutakas is a dream and can easily keep up with the 600 sports bikes. The bike is friendly as well being light and as you sit in more of a sports position is easier to control than say a kawasaki 250 in my opinion. The torque is immense from 6 - 10k rpm. For the first timer it will be a real rush but the throttle is friendly and I found it easy to control the speed first. The bike is quite difficult to use if you are just cruising round town as its built for the track. The price tag is generous as well. I've done 14,000km and haven't had any issues yet. People say 2 strokes will cause alot of issues don't be put off. If you want something different, a real head turner and a great experience then the RS125 is your bike.

Those 125's go harder than any 4 stroke 250.
