Well, what better way to make use of a few days off work than to take the bike for a spin? Ok, around 4000 kms in 5 days is only a wee trip I know... Now I'm into one-up running with light luggage on my 2008 Suzuki Katana 750. Only took a few pics, but most of you big mileage runners will no doubt recognize some of the locations....

It's now time to do a bit of a tikitour around the south island I reckon, around March next year. Ten or so days, any longer and it might lead to divorce haha....

PS. Just noticed that the pic by Lake Tutira is from early last year instead of trip just done. Too many photos on my phone I suppose...

Aaaahhh yes, I did see the TT2000 advertised a while back, I like the route chosen. To me having to run x number of kms in a set time is too much like my job though....

One aspect I didn't mention about my little trip done recently....at the beginning of the year I had my bikes' suspension modified by Crown Kiwi Technical. Correctly rated springs front and rear, new damper pistons and valves etc. I don't care what anyone says, to me the money spent on getting this done is far more tangible than any other modification I've ever done (or had done) to a bike.

Proper suspension setup gives correct damping control and most of all an often misunderstood term, suspension compliance. In plain english, the bike doesn't bump steer around corners anymore and the wrists don't get hammered as much over the endless bumps we have on our roads.

The trip just completed was not my first decent trip after the suspension work, but it was the highest average kms per day. On my second day I did a little 1000 kms and could have just carried on were it not for a dinner date that I wanted to keep.

Then again, most of my bike mods have been of a practical rather than cosmetic nature.
