Honda Magna advice needed

Hi Guys

Im a newbie to motorcycles and only passed my learners a month or so ago. Ive just bought a Honda Magna VT250 which is a great first bike i reckon, very forgiving so far !!
I was just wondering if anyone knew much about this model as im having a small problem getting the seat up!! Can anyone tell me to do it? I realise this is a typical dumbass newbie question but i need to replace the battery as its not holding a charge any longer.

It's bolted to the rear guard from memory.

Try Googling <maintenance manual Honda VT250>. I found and downloaded a full manual for my Hyosung GV250 from the net and it covers everything from tire pressures to working on the engine.
