... I mean what's the fuckin point of stamping a part number on, say a brake pad, and then having someone behind the counter of a shop or two tell you that the computer doesn't have a listing for it, or if it has a listing for the front ones that they belong to a Holden ONLY. FFS it's a Mazda, a 4 year old fuckin Mazda. Fuck it, it can wait til next weekend and I'll rip some pads out, probably ease them out of place at that point in time :brick:, and go and match the pad to a pad as the numbers are utterly fucking useless. Fuckin wife, it's all her bloody fault and her useless braking technique, GET ME A BEER BITCH

Maybe you are going about this the wrong way?

Last time I went to Repco they simply keyed the cars rego number into their computer and that told them exactly what I needed.

Torch the car and claim on the insurance?

They did the same with me to be fair (they forgot to add the N and told me there was no such car too), the second time I went in that was... but I've decided I don't trust the bastards, computers that is, after todays first 3 forays into computer land giving 3 different answers... I'll do it the old fashioned way next weekend.

It's all the fault of the system. If all part numbers were abolished, we could all magically have the right parts...

Can.t understand what you are talking about Mashman.
If you had a part number off the brakepad, then surely you must have already had the pad off?
If the number you had was an OEM number then it probly didn't mean much to an aftermarket supplier.

Either i am confused or a bit thick, probly both.

fixed that for ya ... I had the front pad off to retrieve the P/N and the wheel off was enough to see the rear P/N... neither number made sense to either Supercheap or Repco and one of the numbers from Supercheap wasn't recognised by Repco... So I'll match by eye next weekend instead of dickin about.

see, your problem is were you went, if you had gone to a trade suppler like BNT or Autostop you may have had a better show,

i do not bother with supercheap for anything that i can not get off the shelf, and i usually get the repco guys to hand over there books and look it up myself, BNT guys tend to be very good,

downside to the trade guys is they are normally only open saturday mornings, not all weekend,

I haven't got time tomorrow anyway as we're off visiting people. Will likely pop in on the way home next week at some point.

yesterday I bought replacement rear brake shoes for my 2WD Nissan navara ute, an extremely common ute on NZ roads.
Super cheap.... "whats the chassis number.......um.......4wd is it sir? oh no 2wd, ....um ....we can ge them ex Auckland by courier......." 30 min
Repco...." that was a Nissan Terrano ? we show replacement rear brakes for.......oh, 2WD navara.......sorry not on our stock lists..." 20 min
BNT......""89 - 94 Nissan Navara 2WD..... yes , not a problem....how many sets you need? ....$60 thank sir"" 5 min

Select the real parts people, and you get real service,

yep, they are that good, i have a speedway car that is made out of bits, i would take parts in there, last one was a clutch slave cylinder, of which i had no idea of what it was off, 5 - 10 minutes later they found it was off an early rodeo, and they had it in stock, used to make sure i took beer in there once and a while to say thanks, they always saw me right,

I think it depends on which branch and who you get, with all of the above.
