Hey guys sorry i have missed this thread!
- To try an answer your questions , yes it is a competition and yes there are prizes! kiwi rider magazine has hooked us up and we are squaring away a couple more this week!
- The comp in basic form is a point to point clue finding scavenger hunt - with some of the tasks being phyiscal ex. last year we did 3 hard math questions or 3 sports things like kick a goal shoot a basket etc - but most of the points are based around photo's i.e. go to a place ( pointed out in the mission pack you will each get ) and take a photo of a thing with a pose or action depicting something relative to the thing. - that about as clear as mud? sweet you'l get it when you get your packs 2-3 weeks pre the event - all cars / bikes are expected to follow the road rules and the police will know our route, we have a good relationship with the police and we want to keep it that way and keep you all safe - its not a time trial you'l have hampton downs laps to hoon around!
- Teams for bikes are in place as 1 car i.e. 4 people would work as a team ( 1 to take the photo 1-3 to be in it ) so 2-4 bikes could also be a team - but mostly so you can ride and have fun together
- In terms of sign ups thus far they are slowly picking up but not many so tell your mates! ticket sales close on the 20th so spread the word!
- Spookers is the prize giving first then the after party with music and food and a trip through the attractions if your brave enough!
Feel free to call me direct or email me if there are any more questions
Looking forward to having you guys!

Price drop today from $125 to $59... on www.treatme.co.nz the trade me voucher site. If you're interested in the event this will save you $66. Assuming entry cost is the same for cars and bikes.

The recession must really be biting as they seem to have run out of eccentric rich guys with exotic cars so oiks with bikes are allowed in...
Good job! Get in there you Aucklanders and give dem car jockies a taste of biker power....

This is an absolute ball of an event! think of it as the amazing race on wheels combined with phototag, a poker run, a mystery tour, and the hangover. I've entered this event for the last two years and it's one hell of a fun road trip. It's one day earlyish start and how long it takes depends entirely on how creative you want to get. S**t stirrers are encouraged and girlfriends are allowed. would definitly recommend watching smokey and the bandit, cannonball run, gumball rally and possibly even Goodbye Pork Pie for research and inspiration.Last year a one of the police kindly laid down on the ground while my offsider held a gun on him while we "stole" his squad car from the Waipu police station for one of the photo tasks, so when he says that they have a good relationship with the police you can most definitely believe it.So if you haven't got your tickets, grab one before they all go, you won't regret it!!!
Hope to see you there!!!
Kevin
Ps Merlin is sitting here crapping crawdids because he bought his car ticket this morning and only saw this thread just now!!:brick::brick::brick::facepalm::laugh::laugh:

Pretty sure it's only $65 for bikes?
Anyway, I'll be entering so if anyone needs a team mate I'm keen (have no mates of my own you see...)

Hey Guys!
The treat me thing was for car entry which was on special at $59 down from $125 - we are now holding the biggest cannonball to date!
Bike tickets are on the site at $65 per bike - separate from cars as the sticker packs are less extensive and we'l do you smaller mission books so you can tuck em in your jacket :) also because you can fit 2-4 people in 1 car so 1-2 per bike seems fair :)
Again this is the first year we are open to bikes as we had some interest when we started advertising so we have thrown it together pretty quick! but mostly its exactly the same as the cars ( prizes etc are different)
Ticket sales close on the 20th of Dec ( so we know how many sticker packs/ mission books to print up for ya) so dont miss out !

Yeap, although that acronym just sounds so very wrong so we're making our team name the "nooblet biker nursery team". Now quickly off to register it before someone tries to steal it!

I reckon if this had appeared somewhere in the 'general bike ravings' forum it would have received way more attention. 3 teams sounds a bit short.

So apart from the 4 guys in the team that's gonna win, rain or not, and walk away with thousands of $$$ worth of free sponsors products - how many bikes are signed up from KB? And in total, if the OP is still checking this thread??

Pretty sure I met them. That's if they were the sensible ones who piled into one car rather than ride four bikes in the pissing rain.
In case anyone is interested, there were 11 bikes entered, 7 riders turned up, of which 4 were in a car so a total of 3 bikes (all of which were CBRs) and somewhere close to 250 cars and 600 people from memory. Sadly bikes weren't allowed on the track at HD as they decided it was too dangerous (as had 2 out of 3 riders).
Fun day though, even in the nasty weather. Really impressed with how well it was organised and how extremely well behaved everyone was (referring only to the driving on public roads part). I'll be back next year for sure and hope to see a lot more bikes.

Hmmmmmmmm
So this cannonball run is nothing like the US one then?

For such rubbish weather it was pretty darn fun. Being saturated wasn't that great, but funny when recalling it. I reckon it would be epic next year in good weather.
Yeah the others had wisely decided the track was too dodgy in the wet. I had to get told so by the organiser which is prob just as well. Had been looking forward to it too long, and prob would have gone out on it if it was two feet underwater.

Probably to some degree, but if there was driving craziness going down we didn't see much of it really.

Yeah that was us. At first I felt bad about not taking the bike but as the day got worse and worse I was happy to have made that decision.
It was a load of fun even in the car. I have to say we didnt witness any overtly "stupid" driving but lets say there was some over zealous stopping when items were spotted (at speed). In the wet on the bike would have been a challenge. I would probably do it again but not too sure about on the bike as following the instructions was difficult enough in the car.

yeah probably even on a nice day i would still do it in a car, also dont take heavy drinkers,my 3 passengers all started drinking when we left home at 6.30am and about an hour in to the start none of them could really even read the instructions to me anymore!
felt sorry for the two in the ariel atom, they were drenched and shivering when we stopped at kaiaua for a pee stop,i think they would have gladly swapped thier eye magnet for our shitbox 86 mirage by then

Who on earth would be stupid enough to take a vehicle like an Atom that would leave you totally exposed to the weather on a day like yesterday??! Idiots!! Oh.... wait....

Hey guys,
Thanks to all those guys that entered! there was also a big harley show up on the day but i didn't see him at hampton downs so we are guessing he called it a day! so the 3 street bikers were very impressive following the cars all the way through to hampton downs aswell!
Yes one thing we push very hard is safe driving on the roads and keep the play time in a play area like a racetrack! we are very big on this and we let the police know the route so they can keep an eye on things for us aswell , most competitors know the score and we have had an awesome track record of behavior and plan on keeping it that way!
We would love to see more bikes next year so tell ya friends and spread the word , there are a couple facebook groups like auckland motorsport and Drive by Productions to keep an eye on for future events
We also hold track days for cars and we'l look to accommodate bikes for future track days too
Huge thanks to those who made it through, needless to say the 3 bikes that made it all the way won the bike division and we'l be in touch soon re your prizes!
