Hey I've got a van and two bikes to lug, but I was out with friend on the trials bikes when I saw his neat towbar rack. I've seen these knocked up before in the past, but rarely. John who is a welder by trade makes them up for Trials bikes, but it strikes me that they should be the perfect solution for those that don't have room to park a trailer & one bike.

They basically attach to the tow bar & hold the bike east west with the wheels in a slot each & a tiedown to support the top of the bike. Ideally you go order another number plate to strap to the bike. I don't have a cable for my phone so I didn't take a picture.

What I don't know:

The price
the wheelbase, but Trails bikes & buckets are similarly dimensioned & I'm sure you could supply the axle to axle measurement, or go see him & try the bike on one.
Whether he wants to make these in any numbers, but I'm sure every man is swayed by some extra pingas.

Maybe if some wgtn chap is interested he could post up more details to say that it is totally feasible for an FXR or whatever. Or not.

Hey just an idea for those that are vanless.

Contact details (note you won't find a snazzy website with photos or shop & he works during the week).

you could say you've heard for them for Trials bike & are keen to get one made for a bucket.

I mean they won't be a hundy or anything. they have a bit of work in them & material, but far cheaper than a trailer & no rego etc.

There is one laying behind my shed if anyone wants it (bit heavy to send anywhere, so Wellington people only)
It was made to carry my speedway bike on the towbar of a Falcon wagon. The front tyre slot would need widening as speedway bikes use a 2.75 front.

Free to a good home

Last century I made one of these from ali channel and bolted it to the towbar on my Honda Accord hatchback. Worked great and much cheaper than buying a trailer (mostly because I borrowed the channel from work).

I'm still using it. Plus they went broke. Summat to do with missing inventory...

Damian Toman has one on his 4x4, have seen him with his FXR at Roys hill. I'm sure he will be online at some stage and put up some pics

Breny Symes used to take his RS125 around on one too

I have seen a few more of these floating around now, think they are a bloody good idea but I have always been a little concerned about the point loading weight directly straight down on the towbar. A force the bar may not have designed for.

The trade me ones that are floating around appear to be a bit light and whipy compared to what I would construct as well

These ones have front wheel on an angle which is probably a bit more stable, but yeah a bit like that. Seem pretty sturdy.

I made and bolted angle iron struts from under each end of the main channel down to the sides of the towbar fame. That got rid of the side to side 'rocking' motion.
