hey guys I missed my 10,000km service, brand new 2011 bike last service done at approx 5,000 km - Ive now done approx 15,000.

the guy in the shop said i will be looking out around 300 for the service. I notice it looks like some oil is seeping out of the head - I guess thats normal, the oil is filthy.

I guess i want to make sure it will be ok - any ideas, it does seem to be running rough a bit , as in noisy

Itz a 250cc maurader gn style

so i got about 500 saved for the service and im after advice as to whether it will be ok

There's not a lot you can do about it now anyway - apart from getting the service done ASAP. I daresay the bike will be OK.

You though, will probably go to hell when you die as punishment for neglecting your bike...

Edit: Come to think of it, I went about 1500km over one of the services for the SV when I had it - also the 10k service IIRC. Didn't seem to cause any problems at all.

get the service done. Part of that service is often checking and tightening lose bolts. With the oil seepage it is more important you get it done.

:devil2: There's a special place reserved for those that don't look after their bikes. :innocent:

If your that worried about the oil, do the oil and filter change yourself. Its easy.

Then the shop can just do everything else when you can get the bike in there in a few weeks.

Suzuki are very good with honouring their warranty, except when you haven't had your bike servicd when due. Seriously, get your bike serviced asap even if you have to go to another Suzuki agent to get it done.

Another 2 weeks and you'll be due for your next service, so that'll be one missed completely.

the other shop is in town which is a pain as i cant take time off work, its nearly 5000km over the sevice any way so the warranty is negated. I am thinking they are good bikes any one and in two weeks - the only time the shop can fit it in. Yes a little bit of minor oil leckage but very minimal - looks like some one has smudged some , prob the motor wearing in. of course the other consideration is my budget so all in all two weeks will be fine

So long as the oil is the right weight its probably going to be fine. Car oils are not the best for bikes so look for an oil that says motorcycle or "no added friction modifiers" on the bottle (car oil doesn't go well with a wet clutch).

The filter should be able to be bought for about $10 from the suzuki dealer. They can sell you oil to but it might be very expensive oil ($100 for 4L). Supercheap will have something you can use though.

Your bike is quite likely going to spontaneously combust so make sure that it is parked outside.

mate, dont panic, its a 250, itll keep chugging away. Do get it serviced as soon as practical tho, either by yourself (piece of piss, save money) altho sounds like you need someone to show you. Warranty...meh, its a lowstrung 250, doubt itll shit out while you own it.

Go on zee interwebz and download a workshop manual for your bike. Do your own oil and filter changes, spark plugs + the rest of your filters as it's usually easy stuff that you can do with basic hand tools. You'll gain a lot of experience, and save a lot of money at the same time. It can be pretty fun working on a bike as well.

and what do you mean with the throttle open?

I think it would be a good idea if you just let the shop service your motorcycle.

When the throttle is as open as it can be? With the largest flow of fuel and air to the engine? The bike equivalent of 'pedal to the medal'?

And yeah, there's some dude on a blue cruiser who always hoons past Karishma.

You can get "AA Plus" I think it is called. It applies to cars AND bikes. At least they said it did when I asked them...
