Just wondering what the service intervals would be for a Suzuki VL250 that had it's last service at 38,000km and is now approaching 42,000km.

Next service at 42 or 48,000km? Wondering if it's just better to just change oil & filter at 42K km and wait until 48K km?

Oil and filter every 5 k. Cheaper to buy oil, than spend money on engine repairs. Prevention over
Cure, and all that stuff.

(Disclaimer: I'm no mechie!)

Yes however, should do a overall check also not just restricted to oil and filter at some point?

Replace the spark plugs every 15,000km, replace or wash and oil the air filter at the same time. Replace the fuel filter every second oil change. Don't forget to lube the chain at least every 500km as well. Lube clutch and throttle cables once a year, and anything else that looks like it needs lube. Check tyre pressures every week or 2 when they're cold.

Things such as valve clearances should be done according to manufacturer recommendations.
