Hi All

The last head bearings I greased, the cheap green repco crap is starting to break down and thin, melt out the bottom...

So..

Has anyone had this problem, And what grease did you use to solve it ?

Or what grease make/model do you use without any of such described problem ?

Better I ask before I piss away $25, and a bit of time re-doing it after washing bearings etc...

Cheers in Advance :)

What brand and spec grease did you buy ?

Was it the right spec for your application? LMX or LMM?

The Blue Mobil Oil grease is good stuff. It is very waterproof and a great lubricant.

Thanks ! :)

I had a read of the manufactures claims, I will give it a go! :)

The grease I was using was a No2 Valvoline Wheel bearing grease you get from ripoffco. Its a clay based...

So looks like a litium based grease is the way to go for the head bearings and linkages then :) Water resistant, load bearing.. sounds all good to me !!!

Thanks for you help guys! :)

Probably much the same as what has already been recommended in terms of ingredients and effectiveness, but I use Bell Ray waterproof grease, got it from a local boat shop, works a treat, use it on everything (wheel bearings, linkages, headset, the missus when she's "not really in the mood"...).

I could be wrong...but I doubt smearing her bits will Bel ray will help get her in the mood!
