I had the coolest extended weekend. On Saturday I had the best time at the KR track day :Punk: . Thanks pommie chris and the rest of the KR dudes. I think I’m hooked. I can see the bank balance taking a hit for an entry into next years Vic Club series :whocares: . I can’t believe I got taken up the inside by frosty on a lumbering XJ though, goes to show that man’s ability :devil2: ! Thanks to sparky bills for giving me the encouragement I needed to get my knee down (see picture)! Stoked! Pity the ZXR250 didn’t have the required horsepower to keep up down the straights!
On Sunday I flew over to Nelson and picked up the Gixxer  While I was there I thought I’d check out the West Coast and some of the best motorcycle routes in the country, so I headed down SH6 through the Buller Gorge and popped out at Westport where I had a pie and got some gas  (not that kind). After that I went down the coast to Greymouth. What a road; sunshine, no traffic and fantastic corners. Absolutely awesome! I carried on to Christchurch via Arthurs Pass but unfortunately it started raining at Porters Pass  . Anyone heading over there should be very careful of grit on the road around Arthurs and Porters Pass! :nono: I got to Christchurch at about 7.30pm and stayed with an old friend.
On Monday I went to Picton the long way  , via the Lewis Pass and Nelson. It was raining when I left Christchurch but cleared up nicely just after Frog Rock. It stayed quite fine until I got to Murchison when it started pissing down again. I gassed up and carried on up SH6 until I got to Nelson; it was really pissing down by then. :cold: I got to Havelock and saw a sign at a pub that said ‘open fire’. Perfect. I hung around for about an hour trying to warm up a bit and then shot over to Picton to get on the 6pm Ferry (just in time) and back home to Wellington. All up it was about 1200 km’s :ride: , so needless to say my butt was a bit sore, but my new leathers were all good and I didn’t get too cold and wet despite all the rain. It’s just my crap gloves that weren’t up to the job. It might be time to get some heated grips…
