Hi Kiwi-Bikers,

we are a German couple riding around the world on two Honda Transalps (XL700VA).
We started our journey in may 2010 in Canada, rode across the country and up to Alaska and down to the southern tip of south america.
Right now we are in Patagonia and do research for shipping/flying our motorcycles and us to NZ by end of January or beginning of February.
We plan to travel through NZ for two or three month before we jump to AUS.

Instead of rushing through we would like to meet people who share our passion for motorcycles / travelling with motorcycles, because that´s the most interesting thing for us about travelling!

If you are interested to meet us and share motorcycle/travel-tales, we would be happy!

We are used to a simple live and don´t expect anything! Just a simple spot for our tent would be great!

Beside personal contacts we are also interested in any kind of motorcycle events except "normal" races. MC meetings, motorcycle traveller`s gatherings, crazy kinds of competitions like hillclimbing, mono-wheel or what ever you have over there. Or just a barbecue with some friends...

It might take some time until I am able to reply to posts or msg, since we don´t have internet acess too often down here in south america.

Greetings

Panny & Simone

We are in New Plymouth on the North Island west coast. Home to Mt Taranaki, the surf highway and some fantastic back country roads.

More than happy to help, no need for tent space we have a room that you can use.

(re the post above, Wanganui is 160km south of New Plymouth, 1 hr 45 ride non stop)

Warkworth here, we also hosted the couple that Quasievil is talking about, would love to meet you. Battle of the Streets is in February, street racing at its best, we are also taking a trip to Taupo in February, aimed at the learners but you are very welcome to join us on that

Dunedin here also - und ich kann auch ein bischen Deutsch sprachen. So wenn sie haben kein lust englisch zu sprachen, konnen wir uns auf deutsch unterhalten.
Would be cool to go for a ride, what sort of bikes are you travelling with?
There may be some cool events while you are here. But you missed the best one. The 'Burt Monroe Challenge' which had hill climbs and beach races etc.
You could come watch us sidecar racing :D but I guess thats sort of 'normal' racing.. sort of

Klasse!

Honda Transalp (XL700VA) - the "new" ones with injection, which worked GREAT in the Andes, where you sometimes make 4000 meters of altitude in 2 hours!

At home I rode a BMW Rockster (mattblack) and Simone had a Triumph Bonneville.
Have a look at our bikes and on my bike-history:
http://translate.google.de/translate?hl=de&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.krad-vagabunden.de%2Funsere-motorr%25C3%25A4der%2F
The google-translation is crap. Sorry. But it should be good enough to navigate through our homepage
You have to click on "Simons motorcycles" or "Pannys motorcycles" in the menu on the left to get our other/former bikes.

cheers

Hi Panny,

Andrea and I can offer you both a spare queen bed and room in Wellington. Andrea has a Triumph Bonneville, so if Simone is getting homesick, that might make her feel better.

Let us know when you are passing through and we'll get in touch somehow.

Cheers,
DAvid.

Lower North Island and an hour from the Ferry crossing if you need somewhere to stay, make it a few nights so the rest of our friends (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/photo.php?fbid=10150407584094998&set=a.10150407580544998.362216.248579084997&type=1&theater) can introduce themselves also !

Hi!

I wish all of you a happy new year!

We had a hard time organising the flight for the bikes from Santiago de Chile to New Zealand. Here in Chile „business“ is done in a quite special way: main focus seems to be on NOT answering any emails and avoiding new customers.
Anyway: with lots of persistance we managed to organise the transport finally.
As per now we plan to arrive in Auckland around 3rd of march.
The idea is to hurry south and do the south island first.
Then we we´ll work our way up to the very top of the north island and might leave NZ around mid or end of may from Auckland.

As we get closer, we´ll get into contact with you by private message / email.

Greetings from Chile

Panny (Frank) and Simone stayed with us last night. A great couple with excellent motorcyling comradere.

They've had an amazing trip, one worthy of envy. They've been on the road nearly 2 years, spent 1 year in south america alone! Here's their blog / photo / travelogue site:
http://www.krad-vagabunden.de/ "motorcycle vagabonds" - lol

Their photos are amazing... Has truly inspired me to get off my arse and do some proper motorcycle touring when the kids leave home.

Offer them a bed if you haven't - or get in touch. You'll be glad you did.

PS: Frank / Simone - you are welcome to stay again on your way back up the country.

Hi Dave, Barry and Keith,

thanks for the credits! The pleasure was ours! Great hosts, each of you!

I just would have wished that Kathy wouldn´t have scored as "most dramatic entertainment for overseas visitors":-)

We hope she´s recovering well!

P.S.: Mails with fotos of the St.Johns/Chopper are in a queue. Can´t get them out here. But should work soon.

Thanks to all, who hosted us, gave us route advice or helped us in any other way.
New Zealand was really outstading in regards of hospitality!

My apologies to those, we couldn´t manage to visit. Two month on the road where far to less to meet everybody, who invited us and to do all the good roads!

Furthermore we had to cancel our last riding-week because of serious problems with our backs.
So we are spending our last days in this great country with excercises, visiting physiotherapists and cleaning/maintance of our bikes to bring them in bio-security conform condition for Australia.

Safe rides!

Hi Kiwi Bikers!

It´s been a while since we toured NZ and meet many of you.

On our three and a half years around the world trip there was hardly any conutry, where we got so many invitations and where the local riders gave us such a warm welcome!
Thanks a lot for that! Now, a few year´s later we realise this totally.

When we rode across NZ in 2012 our homepage was solely in Germany.
Meanwhile the whole story is available in English, too. Naturally including our experiences in New Zealand, too - staring many Kiwibikers.
