Was there actually TV coverage there? I didn't see any cameras...maybe that's because they were too busy shooting the fast guys :baby:

So if you had tits and crashed a lot you'd get better coverage?

I think that camera was probably for the live stream...

I would have been happy to have some commentary at the track.
One speaker in the pits that was it.
No speakers hooked up even though they were there.
So before we worry about TV coverage what about getting the live event working for the punters who pay at the gate.

You still need commentary at the track though.

Having spoken with the 'powers that be' at Hampton Downs Ive been assured they intend to have a PA system in place that will satisfy both the pits and the paying public.
It all is intended to be in place before the motorsports festival on the 20th January.
Keep your fingers crossed folks.

The CTAS coverage via live streaming is bloody exellent.

I met an old mate I used to kart race with. Haven't seen him for many years he'd ridden up from Hamilton for something to do.

After saying Hi, The first thing he asked was how the hell can we tell who is who! No commentary, bike numbers unreadable out on track etc etc.

So there's some feedback from someone who is a true and tried petrol head. Was generally unimpressed with the presentation of the meeting he saw.
I know who the riders are and what bikes they ride. Just delivering some initial reaction from a joe blow who doesn't always come to bike racing but is def a tried and true petrol head, bike rider and car racer. Just the sort that would come for a day at the track to watch some bikes.

Now don't shoot the messenger here :bleh:

Good to here that they will have a PA up and running soon,
That will be great.
And the Live Timing Site is fantastic.
Tried to get it on the iphone but 3g was to slow.
Thanks to all the people that make that possible.
Perhaps Hampton may look at a radio frequency, so you can use a headset.
They run one at Western Springs, works really well.

No commentary??????????? Three commentators drove from Lower Hutt, Palmerston North and Wanganui for the meeting. The PA up there let the whole thing down although it was available on FM radio.
Would be an idea for the track to advertise this facility though.
Numbers, i was in a unit right on the main grid and i could read number 170 when it spat out smoke, but there were a lot of sub standard number.
To be fair, where were they watching as there's some high speed parts where its
real hard to see even good numbers, bikes don't have the flat area of car doors...

BANG! Your dead messenger :bleh:

Your right about the FM not being advertised tho...would be worthwhile letting everyone know via signage rather than just letting the riders know at riders briefing.

For anyone that missed out, I noticed that all the racing is available here:

http://www.livetiming.co.nz/Ctas%20Live%20Streaming%20-%20Video%20Coverage.html

$5 a play seems kind of steep though. Shame they don't do a season pass so you could watch as much as you want, when you want.

I read in BRM about the TV coverage. Hope I don't hear about it after it's been shown.

Got a reply. They're still waiting for Telesport to let them know when it'll air. They'll let me know when they do. I'll put it on here when that happens, for anyone who's interested.

Cheers.

You couldn't miss it at Manfeild, It just about blew my eardrums out!

EDIT. No, I'm not going to contact the organisers. I'm not whingeing. Just wanted to make a point that the commentary was well and truly there.

OK then what do you want to pay? Grant bought the camera just weeks ago and it cost him a cool $5000, then there's his time travel and other incidentals including the setting up of a payment system.
I do like your comment about a season pass, maybe you could send it to him for him to ponder

I'm not knocking it! I think is a great service and this tri-series has been by far the best video/audio to date. I also don't expect it to be for next-to-nothing. It just seems that a price per race isn't the best way in my opinion. If he charged $25 a round or $60 a season (tri-series, for example) then I'd be very keen, especially with the Nationals coming up

If you have an email addy, then I'll happily get in contact :)

Cheers

the fact you backed up your original statement with a good suggestion tells me that you weren't knocking it, here's his details Grant@ctas.co.nz<Grant@ctas.co.nz>; and if i see him at boxing day races i'll see what he says about it all

I think its a fantastic idea....I'ld be keen on pay per season...as long as I could watch it after the live feed has finnished...even and edited version...streaming on the internet live ,when alot of people are watching it is a dubious process in the boon docks :)

NZSBK now has the list of dates for TV coverage. Looks like only Wanganui as far as the Tri Series is concerned.
