My bike doesn't have a timepiece on it, and of course looking at your wrist watch gets a little tricky on the move :) Does anyone have a recommendation for purveyors of 3rd party bike clocks in the Wellington area (or I guess mailorder nx wide)?

$2 Shop jobby. Remove strap. Affix to dash with velcro dots.
Done.

I bought a watch from the $2 shop, cut the straps off, and stuck it to the steering head with a velcro dot. Works perfectly.

I look to see where the sun is in the sky.

For some reason I am always late when I ride at night.

When I had an SV, the clock was always visible. Then I got the gixxer and you have to select the clock on the dashboard - which means your odometers disappear. I wanted to have both visible but couldn't manage that.

HOWEVER! Problem solved when I bought a GPS - which has the time always visible.

Have to say I didn't think of an el cheapo watch stuck to the bike though... dumbarse.

On my last bike I didn't even bother removing the strap. Wrapped around the bar quite nicely. My wife has one wrapped around the brake reservoir.

Would you consider someone still commuting (by bike of course) in the torrectial rain and howling gails we have at the moment in Auckland a real biker? My bike is my only transport - rain, hail or shine (I haven't tried snow or sleet yet - don't get that much in Aucks - but I doubt it would stop me).

I need a watch (or clock) so that I can make it to clients etc. on time.

Isn't that the idea though? Knowing the time is up to fuck all unless you can get where you're going faster. I wouldn't bother with a clock cos it wouldn't make fuck all difference to my arrival time.

Just keep the wrist wrapped around. (the throttle) and time is not a problem :niceone:
You're right though

No the only thing you need to qualify as a biker is not having a watch.

In which I definitely qualify. I don't have a watch, just a clock - one on the bike, one in the phone, one on my desk, one on my computer(s), the list goes on...

It would allow you the enjoyment of taking a more circuitous route. My SV is the first bike I have had with a clock. Whilst I run it ten minutes fast so that I am never late, I do find that it is a bonus having some indication of whether I have time for a pint or not before I face the kids at home.

I found one "free" on the road when out walking AND it had glue on the back - no longer sticky - so I put a velcro dot on it. Looks good on a nuthead under the handlbars, BUT it doesn't friggin go! Oh well will have to "find" another one that is going.

Bought an Oxford made for the job time piece from Tardme a couple of years back.
Came with the Velcro dots and all the palaver to get it on the bike.
Lasted about a month before it fell off, luckily for me into the mess of cables and things and i as able to retrieve it. Not matter though, after using the back up Velcro and watching it like a hawk for another month or so it simply stopped working.
Got out the oldest battery powered Casio watch I've ever owned.About ten years without changing the battery, strapped it onto some of the cables by the handle bar, never been late or early since.Still works a treat and no one wants it so i get to keep it.
All I have to do now is get the bike working properly so me and my timepieces can enjoy some summer riding.;

Of course in this weather with only a t-shirt on you should be able to see your wristwatch anyway.
