I have been watching the leadership tussle with interest, and I reckon David Shearer has every chance of winning in 2014.
He's kind of the anti-key in that he has been hugely successful in his career, but instead of making buckets of dosh, he has worked in the humanitarian field saving lives and shit. John Key is really only world famous here, as compared to other money traders he didn't really make all that much money, whereas Shearer is internationally respected and was awarded an MBE by the poms in 93.
Over the next 3 years I'm picking that National will roll out a heap of unpopular policies and the lot of Kiwis will almost certainly be a lot less happy, and while Key has has Act he can use as a scapegoat to blame for stupid shit, there is only so far he can take that. My guess is that in 2014 people won't lurve John nearly as much and some will even be completely sick of him - a nice smile goes a long way, but it doesn't pay the bills. Because the global economic crisis will mean he has very little good news for the peasants Key will lose interest in being PM and look for a knighthood and a job in international diplomacy or something.

That Kiwis till turn the government over after they've had a couple of terms isn't exactly crystal ball gazing

Reading the Stranded, I only give him a 50/50 chance of going into the 2014 election as Labour leader...

Bro you told me the greens were going to win.<_<
I am proposing in 2014 that everyone simply writes "Fuck you" on their voting slip.
Be the most fun you will have in a polling booth.
Won't achieve anything however. As how we run a democracy will remain until there is blood in the streets.
Even if 50% of the country voted for "fuck you". It will still be National or Labour who gets the most out of the other 50%.

Those are good odds. Considering he will have a 25% chance of being Prime Minister then.

National/ Labour/media coalition will win again, doesn't matter how close or which one just so long as it's one or the other ... suck ups to the 1%!
Actually the closer the better, it means the media are doing their part to please their 1% masters!

There is. It's called Liabore. We even had a gay prime minister for 9 years.
Or an Asian party?
mmm? Maybe that could be a good idea.
