"It looks like they've been brought up in a cop-hating culture, possibly with a cop-hating family,"

"Young people were more inclined to "have a go" at police and there was a general lack of respect for authority"

Gotta feel for this poor bugger, he even admits hes become cynical and suspicious of people who don't deserve it due to this attack and has become "hypervigilant"...who the fuck could blame him!

This whole family should be either locked up permanantly!...or just shot! (Set an example!)

ohh hold on...our "Justice system" has deemed this punishment- (Just the kids!...cos mom and dad had NOTHING to do with there attitudes)
"The pair will serve their sentences at Waikeria Prison's youth unit"
...so they can learn to be better crim's! FFS!

Don't know about you lot...but I was raised to respect the authorities (cops, firemen, teachers etc..the lot!).....what the hell has happened to society & youth??...and why can't we just start "culling" these maggots off?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oppositional_defiant_disorder

Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is a diagnosis described by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) as an ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior toward authority figures which goes beyond the bounds of normal childhood behavior. People who have it may appear very stubborn and angry.

Common features of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) include excessive, often persistent anger, frequent temper tantrums or angry outbursts, and disregard for authority. Children and adolescents with this disorder often annoy others on purpose, blame others for their mistakes, and are easily annoyed. Parents often observe more rigid and defiant behaviors than in siblings.[1] In addition, these young people may appear resentful of others and when someone does something they don't like they often take revenge on them.[2]

In order for a child or adolescent to qualify for a diagnosis of ODD these behaviors must cause considerable distress for the family and/or interfere significantly with academic or social functioning. Interference might take the form of preventing the child or adolescent from learning school material or making friends, or placing him or her in harmful situations. These behaviors must also persist for at least six months. Effects of ODD can greatly be amplified by other disorders in comorbidity such as ADHD.[3]
[edit] Signs and Symptoms

Some signs and symptoms that must be perpetuated for longer than 6 months and must be considered beyond normal child behavior to fit the diagnosis are:[4] [5]

Actively defies or refuses to comply with adults' requests or rules[6]

Deliberately doing things that will annoy other people [7]

Angry and resentful of others[8]

Argues with adults[9]

Blames others for own mistakes

Has few or no friends or has lost friends

Is in constant trouble in school

Spiteful or seeks revenge

Touchy or easily annoyed

I know this will start a flame war but I blame the shit on the telly.
FFS the top NZ show is about criminals and its all a big laugh.
Yes i know it is just a TV show but this is not the only one;
Breaking bad - about making meth,
sons of anarchy - biker gang,
sopranos - mob show,
And the list just keeps on growing.
And just look at the keyboard warriors on here going on about "the pigs" this and "the pigs" that, this is the example the children are growing up with so it's only going to get worse unless these Muppet's are just put against the wall.

What a lot of crap. that pretty much describes me age 13-17.

Most of us don't give a crap whether or not there is a medical condition. Anyone who wants to live in my society and get the benefits of that signs up to a code of conduct that involves not attacking the Pleece with a machete. They know its wrong and they do it anyway. I have zero sympathy for them, their family and they should be sterilised, then put on a boat and transported to the colonies. Straya.

If you ever want to excuse ANY sort of behaviour, the DSM is an excellent place to start. Simply reverse-engineer by doing the deed and then flicking through the DSM to find a description of whatever you did and bingo! "medical condition". A lot of crap is bang on.
And at risk of stirring the pot and being Capt. Obvious at the same time, he is very unlikely to have been attacked a second time if he had shot the cunt in the face after the first attempt. Kids lack of respect for apparent authority could be tempered somewhat by being aware they are likely to get shot if they fuck with people doing their job and keeping the rest of us safe. And if it WAS a medical condition, well, problem's still solved eh?

No expensive court trial,..no expensive 4 years in jail.

have to agree except what he discribed isnt a medical condition its a disorder. which is just a way of discribing a group of people that are wankers (and making up an excuse for it)

must admit though the ones that attack ambulance officers make me want to do violence the most

These stories shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. This type of behaviour is becoming more and more common. It seems that people are less and less able to control themselves or their emotions and care less and less about those that they hurt. Before, or after an attack, they just don't care. Look at all of the violent crime in the news of late. At the end of the day, the attitude of FuK Da Police (and anyone else who disagrees with their activity) is becoming ingrained in these idiots and they have the audacity to actually think that they can roll how they like. The courts don't help, the cops could arrest these clowns and the court system allows them to get a slap on the wrist. I would suggest that these clowns were lucky that there were no other cops there when the decided to go blade happy, they might just have had a 9mm or two to the C.O.M.

I thought it was a piece of shit. The directing sucked, the premise was cool but they way they did it was like having 5 minutes of actual content and stretching it out for an hour. If you want something to shock people I can point you to plenty better films.

Ahmen!

....had a poor girl in palmy have an epileptic fit outside my bar, we called the ambulance to ensure she was safe (she had cracked her head open on kerb and was very distressed)...some low life drunken scum started pushing the ambo staff around thinking they were tuff!
....advised my security crew that my cameras had been turned off and to "proceed with all due and unnecessary force please".....drunken little scumbags learned a VERY harsh leason that night! (And my security staff enjoyed EVERY minute of it due to being equally disgusted by these drunken "tuffguys")
