Just reading on the NZ Herald website about a 2 month crackdown on motorcyclists through out the Bop.
I'm going to enjoy having some snotty nosed kid from Training college telling me how 'Dangerous' riding a bike can be. After 44years riding with only one 'off' , and several years on an Ambulance, I just may have some idea of how to reconize the risks involved. If I arse off tomorrow, it will more than likely be as a result of my actions/inactions.
Think I'll leave my Hi Viz vest tied to the back pack, just to piss 'em off. After all, wearing it hasn't stopped the 'Blind' from having a go at me.

Crackdown may be more widespread. Already had a major purge here in the Manawatu - they stopped every rider as they went past the Police roadside checkpoint before Ohakea airbase...on the premise that they were being nice and checking rider safety. Last week I think. Oh - have you a current rego sticker there sir? Oh dear..$240.

No and no.
Go and lecture elsewhere...where your crap may have some appeal ...my bike is legit and I have never had a ticket. Just telling people what is happening..been in the paper.
If u don't want people to post meanigful info here - maybe it's you who needs to look in a mirror as u seem to have an attitude issue.

Of course they :Police: will be out doing their service to the community. The weather is warming up and people are dragging their bikes out of the garage, so when is a better time to run the checks? Ok there is the pre-xmas stress factor which makes the victims a bit agro. As a year round rider it is easy to forget there are a lot of summer riders out there.

This is a comment from a reader on the BOP Times site
"Yes.... and we could paint all the cars rescue orange so motorcyclists can see them better - a large portion of the levies we pay is a consquence of driver inattention - cars are more and more insulated from the road environment - drivers need to concentrate and be more aware of other users - I guess I'll wear hi-viz to help you do your job !!"
As for the so called "crack down" ..... they do and say that all the time anyway.
ALTHOUGH, I must admit I was VERY suprised to see a cop on SH29 towards the Oko last Thursday. Not as suprised as he was when I took my helmet off though.

Hmmm $240 fine is still cheaper than rego.
Guess you have to budget how many fines you expect to get per year. 1-2 and you're getting a better deal! (for over 600's)!

A lick of yellow paint here and there on the Valkyrie and you wouldn't see it against the cop car...

Most people sometimes make incorrect assumptions - you seem to be one who makes a career of it....
Too bad you don't know how to admit your mouth got ahead of your brain capacity and just say - whoops, sorry got that wrong (again).

That's what pisses me...if we do 110kmph all the kittens die. Pricks like this drop diesel/tallow/etc on the roads everday which can and does cause serious accidents but we're the ones getting snotted.
