Change of ownership on temporary license

Has anyone done a change of ownership form while on a temporary license, what did you put for license version number and did NZTA accept it?

I got my restricted a couple of days ago so have a temporary license and I've bought an NSR :) I hope I don't have to wait for the photo license to turn up in the mail to get it insured and start riding it properly.

Its around a 30 day deadline before they send you a reminder that you need to do the ownership papers.

As far as law goes, its illegal to possess and own a vehicle for more than 14 days (or there around) without updating the ownership.

Wait for the proper card license.

When I bought my SV last week I did the change of ownership at VTNZ with my temporary license (renewed license about to expire the previous week), had my passport with me as well, and no eyebrows were raised.
I just took the form to the counter with the parts I couldn't fill in blank and the woman at the counter sorted it out, papers turned up today.
I don't see why there would be a problem bud. Do it ASAP and get that puppy insured for holiday riding!

Use of temporary licences
Temporary driver licences, valid for 21 days, are issued to allow a licence holder to legally drive while waiting for their photographic licence to be produced and delivered.

Temporary driver licences are no longer accepted as identification (unless accompanied by an acceptable form of photographic identification).

Didn't think you needed a form of identification for Change of Ownership papers anyway? But then the interpretation of what is needed varies depending on who you get behind the counter.

why do they ask for the license anyhow? Is it just a form of identification? You don't have to be licensed to own the vehicle, only to use it on the road. I know it isn't very realistic for us to have a chauffeur, well for me anyhow, but there must be occasions where some older person or "handicapped" (don't know the PC term) person owns the car that a caregiver or other helpful person drives them around in.

I've had 2 motorbikes registered in my name with just a class 1 license (a 125cc and a 250cc).

Thanks Skirts. The list shows why they typically ask for the license and why most of us just hand it over without thinking.

My son changed the ownership for his car on a temporary licence, couldn't do it online as it requires the version number on the website, but no problem over the counter at the post shop.
