Follow me on this one...
Riding into town in the morning from out west... about 1200 meters before you hit the Newton Road off ramp there is a footpath that sweeps down out of the scrubby looking bushes (just behind some of the work they're doing on the verge at the mo)
At the lowest point on that footpath, (behind the fencing) there is a guy there some mornings, just looking out over traffic. I've seen him there as early as 7am, and as late as *ahem* 9:00am... This morning he has a box of Lion Red to keep him company.
Just stands there looking either down the MW or across it.
Anyoine else seen him - any ideas who he is? I'd like to actually talk to him and find out more about him... seems nice enough at 50kph...

I've heard the tail.. there used to be a man who lived near by, just over the other side actually, just before the motorway was built. His house is still there, almost oposite that point. He went out walking his dog one day around 6.30am, when he died of a fatal massive heart attack about 7. He struggled to get home, but in the bush, he fell and lie for help for 2 or 3 hours.
His dog took off in search for help, but only ended up shagging the bitch down the road before the pound picked him up. Unfortunately, the pound van driver didn't speak much 'dog', and failed to realise the barking was for his fallen master.
The help never came. He still waits, trying to get home. But now the motorway is there, it's impossible for him to cross. So he just stands there and waits..
The dog was released on bail, and hasn't been seen since. Some say he still plays in the park near by.. others say they see him run amock on the NW motorway, looking for his master..

Timewarp zone:
There's this hermit guy on the coast that walks around his sheep paddock with a huge knife in his hands.
He's been building his house for over 12yrs. Nothing obvious has changed in the past 10yrs except 5yrs ago he put up an untouched A-frame clothes airier with clothes but that's the only new news. Doesn't even own any transport. He's still alive. Saw him a few months back. Haven't been game enough to stop.

It's not any of my brother's in law, they don't live there anymore. They lived on the road at the top of the bank - one of them used to do some gardening in the road side planting. One day he was watering his plants when a voice behind him said - ''We were wondering who's those were''
My father lived in Newton Gully in the 40s - chased the fire engine to his own house one day,his mother and sisters standing on the curb with all they could save in their hands.
I miss King st,going from New North to Old North was a bit of fun.I crossed Newton Gully once when they were making the motorway too.

Has anyone seen the woman? who walks around the Panmure area carrying a bag of solvents to inhale? You can't miss her, she is the one with the BRIGHT PINK DAZZLE ALL OVER HER FACE!!
It is ultimately very repulsive, (she was seen squatting down on the pavement one day to have a piss...) but everytime I see her I want to call some agency to help her out or something... The local 'boys' abuse her and stuff, but she is in her own little Hallucinogenic world.....I suppose she is happy??

I have now officially founded the church of Ernie.
as Ernies prophet it is my role to educate you heathens. I posted in RR but here it is as well
I herby found the Church Of Ernie.
compared to all the other religions, Ernism is ther best. here is only some of the reasons.
*Christianity is 2000 years old. pah! want a new model religion with all the new features!?
*Ernism actually encourages drinking
*Church is anytime your on a bike
*Everyone is so happy! I mean the god of Ernism (Ernie on the NW) actually DANCES to traffic!
*drinking at 8am is A-OK!
*the biker gods, actually work FOR Ernie
*only 1 box of Lion Red to become an elitist diciple that casts 'holier-than-thou' looks at all the rest of the Ernieists
*none of those silly outdated rules like sex out of marraige or not coveting thy neighboors wife
*as an active follower of Ernism, you will never crash your bike or be crashed into. an Ernie-Auro will surround you with a glorious light (brightness of light actually depends on quantity of lion red boxs purchased for Ernie) while you ride protecting you from small children, cow shit, gravel, rain, sleet, snow, nieghbours pets, more small children, the need to brush your teeth, bumps, flats, running out of petrol or oil, bugs on your gear, primary school children, kindergarten children, preschool childen, that kid who lives down the road with a bung eye, failed relationships, STD's, death, suicide, slow bandwidth, bad breath, foot odor, pink-eye, gonorea, AIDS, all kinds of blood diseases, baldness (also reverses btw zadok), impotentnes, pretty much ageing in general, bad test scores, running out of money, getting to the water cooler only to find its empty, nercrophiliac gay dinosaurs, necrophilliac straight dinosaurs, George Foreman, Mark Ellis and Matthew Ridge, Suzy Cato, Paul Holmes and his Midgety underlings, Cancer, hippo attacks, Nigerian Scam Artists, Hangovers, Bad Hair days, Photocopier explosions, microwaves making you impotent, grass stains, bad tasting spleen, and finally, for some reason, camel spiders.
Anyone who wants to become an Erniest like me, just send me $100 with your box of lion red to my address and I will send you your Erniest Hat and Sandals, official Ernism gold neck chain* and gift certificate at the baby factory for $8.76
DONT DELAY! Get life satisfaction TODAY
(*disclaimer: gold chain is not affiliated in any way with MR-T's chain or chains in fact we have never heard of MR-T. Who is MR-T)

Not all dinosaurs were large and savage. Many were small (large bird size) and harmless, and some of the medium, even large ones, were plant eaters and no more likely to kill you than a cow. You need to be more precise about these dinosurs.

lol yeah.
I missed ernie today cos I was behind a coppa and being carefull.
semi-interesting story actually.
I was lane splitting reasonably fast when I noticed this odd yellow bike behind me. I sped up a little to see if he wanted to keep up or maybe even pass. I noticed a cop about 10 cars ahead, unlikely he had noticed me so I jumped into a lane then signaled (pointed at eyes then pointed at cop) to the other guy incase he didnt notice. he didnt and went past me, but thats when I noticed he was a fucken scooter. god I hate scooters.
so after a few lane changes to get into the prime 'ernie spotting position' I noticed the same policeman was in the auckland central lane so I couldnt do my ussual speed down the left lane only to nip into the auckland central offramp at the last second.
anyway. come up to the backed up traffic leading to nelson st, cops beside me. I REEEEALY want to lane split up inbetween but of course theres a cop there.
so I asked him (with sign language) he gave me a thumbs up and I have him a gleefull nod and went up.
great start to my day
thanks mr coppa man!

may be that's what he was eating before his heart attack.. any food he would have had for brekkie would have got lost in the bushes, so it wouldn't have been found.. so it was just the on-going spirit of his sammy.. long live cheese

I think I saw Ernie this morning, but I just want to make sure that the blessing of the Church of Ernie is upon me before I slip out to get my Lotto ticket.
Is he a Maori bloke who with a black beanie, padded jacket and jeans (Ernie may be the patron saint of Bogans) with a folding chair, situated about 300 metres west of the Bond St bridge on the path that goes from there to the Springs?
If so, he didn't wave back, but that may have been due to the angle of the Sun, the slight chill in the air that kept his hands under his armpits (better him than me) or his total indifference (how have I offended thee Ernie?).

I wave to him every morning I see him, and get a wave back. Ho wmany religions can boast that much direct contact with their deities?
I mean you don't see Kali standing there with a beer in each of her 8 hands, Thor waving his hammer round, Mithras performing a ritual sacrifice of a bull or that bloke on the cross waving at us do you??? (alright, it'd be a bit hard for Jesus to wave, but you get the general idea)

or even bring him a possum thats been run over down the road so he doesnty have to walk all the way up the motorway looking for food,
he might even offer you a beer next time you stop,
make him really feel a part of the kb site, a site he would have no idea exists, or the net.

"Ernie" is really Sanchez.....
Its in another thread about him....
I stopped and chatted to him once and thats when I found out his real name...
His brothers ride bikes and he loves them but he can't ride m/bikes himself.
He is usually always wearing a black leather bike jacket and dark trousers or jeans.
His chair is still there with a empty beer box beside it on a regular basis.
I always wave to him whenever I see him there.
I guess with the road works happening there at the moment, his space is being disturbed. But he still hangs out there..
I have seen him there at night-time as well.
So toot and wave to him.. he will wave back to you.
He seemed really harmless the one time that I spoke to him for two minutes...
very polite and happy to chat....
but as we all know we aren't allowed to stop on the motorway...

That's what I figure - all the dust'd be a pain.
He's still there though - gives the occasional wave.
We should try and talk the boys into building a concrete bench or something for him to sit on while if they get any extra time on the MW work.
