Any general freight company will have a truck with a tail lift.

Hi everyone.

To cut a long story short, I bought a bike off TardeMe that's in Auckland and I'm in Palmerston North. I arranged to have Mainfreight pick the bike up and I was to pick it up from their yard down here. The truck arrived today without my bike, which I paid for earlier this morning. So, great start. The owner emailed me advising that the truck driver couldn't load the bike and insists that I now pay for a Hiab. Like, aghhhhh!!!

It's just a case of getting the bike to the side of the road. Has anyone got any suggestions? By the sounds of things the bike's front wheel is locked up and has been bent sideways. Can anyone help me as the seller is getting a bit desperate for a solution here...

It seems like my hands are tied. The former owner is on KB and he posted the story of how the bike came to be damaged. I'm looking at all my hard work and the savings going down the tubes. I'm prepared to pay someone to help me out.

It's a 500lb bike. (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=421093015)

Cheers,
Patrick Malone

Good luck Pat.

Will it wheelie, mister? :scooter:

Or a more feasible idea: if getting it out of its location is the problem, ask them to take a set of piano wheels (i.e. what they move pianos on) or one of those furniture removal platforms, drop the front wheel onto that and push it out.

I'd be happy to provide some arms and legs but don't have any kit that would help myself, sorry.

Or a forklift at their yard.

there is this thread, http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/31607-KB-recovery-vehicle-Auckland and I have something you could put under the front wheel to wheel it around. I use it for moving engines, just a triangle out of angle steel with castors on it, but does the job.

If you have a creeper board, (for sliding in and out from under cars when workin on them) pick the front wheel up and it's problem solved.

I'll be in the car heading back from BOP on Wednesday (back late lunchtime) and after that am around all week. Will just need a bit of notice to get myself over the bridge and possibly to negotiate with Mrs Chasio as we've got a few days without the kids at home (sweet!). Clonak's engine trolley sound good.

PM on its way with my email address and phone number.

It's that fucked already...just tip it off the side of the truck tray, jam a skateboard or skate under the front wheel and shove it in ya garage.

Hey OP--look I can't donate TIME. But I CAN loan the exact tool for the job. If someone else can provide the muscles.
Its a car "wheeler" shaped for the front wheel of a car> so You'd put the immobile bike on its main stand (vfr750's have a main stand.
Rock it backwards so the back suspension is compressed and slide the "wheeler" under the front wheel. Then you just wheel it away.
I'm pretty sure that bike has a hole in the rad so you couldn't really start it for it to self propell.

As suggested above, putting the front wheel on any wheeled support should do the trick. And anyway, the bike looks less than 300kg in weight so 2 or 3 big and/or strong fellows should be able to lift the damned thing and move it one meter at the time. Keen to be one of these fellows if you need me.

I have emailed you my details. Just give me a couple of hours notice and I shall be there to help whoever is there to help you. Just get the timing right with the transporter or your bike might end up sitting on the curb for a few hours alone.
