Hi all,

I just bought a fancy new Shark helmet for a great discount price. The only problem is that the discount price tag doesn’t want to come off. :pinch: Well.. I peeled it but there is a lot of residue 2nd layer of paper stuck to the helmet. I don’t know why they would put stickers that don’t come off easily..

Does anyone have an idea how to take the price sticker (or rather what’s left of it) without having to scratch the helmet with a bread knife or douse it in bleach?

De-Solv it is a special sticker removing liquid...supermarkets should have it or Repco / supercheap. Try a bit of Turpentine on a rag and rub it...the sticker, not your willy.

Don't use paint thinner (lacquer thinner or acetone in case it damages the finish)

You need to remove all the paper with your finger nail or non metal tool like plastic scraper and then use isopropyl alcohol or if you don't have that kerosine to remove glue.

Then I'd wash the area after with mild soapy water.

also... those citrus cleaners work too, that you get from the supermarket - the green one is especially good...
On my car to remove the signage, I used orange citrus cleaner, WD40 (awesome), and a non stick pan scraper

Well, we can't get the house in the BBQ so it has to be the other way around. :killingme

could always use a hair dryer to heat the left over glue.

WD40
Will work and won't harm the finish. Wash it with soapy warm water afterwards.

WD40 ftw! Apparently you can also spray it on sore joints of the body as the prime ingredient is fish oil??? Awesome multi-use product.
(Otherwise I'd have gone with Dsolve-It)

Probably...
It will also get sticky tree sap of your skin.

Eucalyptus Oil.

All natural, won't harm paints or surfaces and you can use it to freshen, disinfect and clear your nose

+1. Kero on a rag, just enough to wet the sticky mess left after you peeled the tag. If that fails, I'd be tempted to use the oxy-acetylene torch....:D

Now here's an interesting thought, is the helmet a polycorbonate one? (plastic)... the manufactureres advice for these helmets usualy states do not use, glues, solvents, solvent based cleaners etc as it can chemicaly weaken the shell... SO,,,, was the 'reduced price sticker' using a glue that is 'polycarbonate' friendly?

Hot, soapy water is your friend. Keep chemicals away from your helmet.

No. You are confusing it with Inox.

WD-40 contains solvents that will happily break down plastic.

Chemical stuff on your helmet? You nuts?! For your future safety concerns REPLACE YOUR HELMET IMMEDIATELY!

Where do you put your nose that it needs disinfecting?

haha those were seperate things :bleh:

I use it in a spray bottle, with water and isopropyl alcohol to disinfect surfaces.

But I also chuck a few drops into oil burners, and onto a hanky to inhale when we have colds in the house. A few drops in vaseline on the soles of your feet helps get rid of colds too.
