Just went down to gas up for aa assault on the Molesworth and noticed that my speedo would only read to 21km/h. Odd I mused so watched it more closer and it goes all over the show and occaisionally flashes (I think) the correct speed, but really only gets to 21.6 or so. Everything else works e.g. shiftlight, temp, clock, tacho etc.

Checked all the connections and the pick up etc and the only thing I found was the speed pickup wire is a wee bit crushed where it shares an eyelet with the throttle cables. All the settings are still the same and it was working fine the other day.

Just read the manual and it says that the cables need to be real good and not crushed etc so possibly this post is pointless, but still willing to hear and share any others experiences.

Check how the speedo head/magnet is mounted. Mine deteriorated, with the magnet becoming less strong, & the disc floating. I've remounted things into a different configuration & it's all good now.

Alternatively get a new cable.

I use a neo magnet (duh) just stuck to the disc and the pickup is 2-3cm away with no issues.
If you still have a problem then it's probably the wiring...

I'll bring some magnets tomorrow...

The magnet is part of one of the rotor bolts. I tried spacing it out so it was closer to the pickup, but alas to no avail. Hopefully its just the magnet, otherwise I will need a new pickup and wire.

One test is to wave a magnet back and forth by the pickup and see what happens.

Nah, its obviously working at least to come extent, because he's getting 21kph out of it. So strength of signal or a disruption are the issues.

His odo is good though...
The rev counter was playing up a bit too.

Yea the Odo is fine which means it must be something in the unit itself which is a worry, i wonder if resetting it will help?

The tacho is fine, I was looking at the trip meter thinking it was the rev counter:facepalm:

I lost my bloody magnet meaning my speedo wasn't working. I had my GPS howver you realise how much you rely on the trip meter for fuel levels.

Do you reset your tripmeter on the GPS too? Bigger screen, easier to see and a lot more accurate between fuel stops distance wise.
I got a WOF with GPS working only as the rules allow for this (apparently)

My speedo went all to hell just before the last Maunga trip, I re-set it but it made no difference, had to re calibrate again and added some more to the tyre circ. to give a truer reading. It's about .7k's out at 100k's when measured with the GPS.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement temp sender for mine? I accidently put 12v through mine and open circuited it

No, it never changed any settings at alllincluding shift light, clock etc etc so the odo is the same. Pretty sure you can't change the odo at all, but could be wrong or mis-informed.

You can if you know how to do it. I used this to add mileage when I swapped from the old spedo to the new one.
