 Christmas day of all days I had my first crash on the road and it couldn't have come at a worse time, 20 minutes into my ride from Hamilton to Whangamata as I got to Morrinsville had the usual story, I was going around a right hand corner, a ute at a give way sign stopped, waited til i was about 10m away then gunned it and gave me a split second to lock up the brakes mid corner and smash into the front of his ute.
Damage: My left nut is now blue, my bike has been towed away and unsure of what Protecta insurance will be doing (repair or written off).
His ute has a bent bonnet, front right quarter panel smashed, front grill and radiator smashed.
He admitted he was in the wrong and when I filed the crash report the cop said he will be getting charged for careless driving or failing to give way.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=344237908935264&set=a.188598147832575.52512.100000471724241&type=1&theater

Nope. Read every other crash thread. Its your fault for sooooooooooo many reasons. ACC agrees with me.
Seriously - glad you're alright and get to chalk it up to experience

As above. Glad you are OK and at least the driver admitted. Trust no one, assume nothing.

I'm surprised people say they crashed on KB given the shit storm that usually surfaces.
Glad you didn't end up hurt!
Seriously though did you do sweet curves coming up to the side road so that motion camouflage didn't occur? :msn-wink:
edit: never mind I re-read you were mid-corner!

Lesson learnt, Hold the horn on every time I go past a car stopped at an intersection. I'd rather sound like a dick than expect I've been seen. first modification when I get my new bike will be a fog horn.

Yep, I've always done that.
No eye contact = a gentle pip pip until they look at me.
Glad you lived to tell the tale. Hope the insurance looks after you

Katman will be along soon enough to tell you how it's all your fault and that the ute driver who cut you off is innocent.
It's good to hear that you've managed to walk away and that you're not badly hurt.

I think it "was" a Hyosung! :shit:
Glad you came out OK hades55 but of course this incident will be recorded (for ACC purposes) as another motorcycle accident not a utility accident!

ever ridden one? I prefer it over my old FZR250 4cyl. and it's alot nicer to ride than my mates ZXR250 ninja.
Thinking if the insurers don't want to repair the bike I might be able to barter with them to only repair the essentials and throw the fairings away to go street fighter.
