Caltex Delo 400 or Delo Silver from the warehouse.

Looks like delo 400 is the equiv to Shell Rotella which is all the rage on Thumpertalk, might be worth a shot.

Caltex Delo 400 or Delo Silver from the warehouse.

you have any info on the difference between 400 and silver relating to oil standards/bike suitability?

i've been using 400 for about 5 years but recently the warehouse mostly has silver in stock and i thought i read somewhere thats it's not so suitable for bikes.

cheers

Delo 400 Multigrade SAE 15W-40 (API CI-4 PLUS)
Delo 400 Multigrade SAE 15W-40 is a premium quality engine oil designed for pre-2007 engines and higher sulfur fuels (> 500 ppm sulfur). With exceptional soot dispersancy and wear control, Delo 400 Multigrade SAE 15W-40 protects cylinders, pistons, rings, and injectors against wear and corrosion, providing optimum service life and minimal maintenance.

Looks like this to me.

I usually keep an eye out at super cheap and nab Castrol Activ4t when it goes on special for $35-$40 for 4L ($43-$46 normally).

I find if you go for a semi-synthetic blend of 10w-40 you can't go wrong.
Try supercheap or repco and you're sure to find something with this combo for a good price.
Castrol 4T is not semi syntetic nor is the Delo mentioned above

couldn't find any delo 400 multigrade at the local warehouses and caltex service stations, only 400 LE.

rang the caltex helpline and they said all the public outlets are only getting 400 LE but the caltex distribution centers (where ever they are) can supply 18 liter drums of multigrade.

anyone know of a stock of the 5 litre bottles in wgtn?

my bike needed some valve work @ 300 hours and paul the mechanic said the motor looked pretty good for 300 hours so i'd prefer to stick with the same oil.

alternatively anyone tried motoxparts BO Motor Oil's KTM Racing RS4 Fully Synthetic? http://www.motocrossparts.co.nz/motocross-parts-accessories.php?id=3332&biketype=2

or is any other bike friendly diesel oil available in nz?

cheers.
