Hi Guys
Im a bit retarded when it comes to wiring . could anyone help me?

I've got a Honda GL145 and purchased a Loncin150 motor for it about 6 months ago. I've finally got around to having some time to try and get it going but im buggerd if i can work out
why i cant get any spark.

im not exactly electricly minded but thought i had sone what was required
i've got one of these motors.

From what im told all you need to make this thing run is

Blue/white from engine to blue CDI
Black/Red from engine to Red CDI
Yellow/Black from CDI to the Coil
Coil green wire goes to Ground
Green wire from CDI goes to ground
black /white is kill switch (not connected)

i've got one of these CDI's that came free with the bike

has anyone got an example of one that is already wired up? pleaseee

most common cause is earthing to many wires (ie one that acts as a kill button)

i have a pic of my own wiring interpretation... just getting it loaded

hey mate, thanks for confirming this. thats what i have connected up too. except i dont have a blue/yellow mine is blue/white

Does it run without the killswitch wire connected to the cdi?

yes it would do, just you cannot switch it off, which is OK as long as the throttle isn't stuck on full!!

Check the coil wiring as Loncin have a way of making the black/red wire earth and the green wire power. ( the wiring on the coil itself)

Which CDI did you get? you probably got an engine from the same shipment as i did, the engine is supposed to come with wiring loom as advertised but i had alot of problems getting all my parts that it was advertised as coming with out of Newmans. eventually he sent me a loom but it didnt even match anything, it was ladelled for a 250... but i did get mine going after copying another one, i have the aftermarket blue alloy cased CDI if thats what you have i'll see if i can take some pics coz all the diagrams i as given didnt work

yea mate the CDI is the aftermarket blue alloy case one. The wiring loom doesnt plug and play into anything, i had to cut wires and connect them my self with crimpers etc.

that would be great if you could take some photos mate!

Hi Motoxxx i run a loncin 150 on my bucket sidecar with one of those blue cased cdi units . With mine three wires from the engine loom are used
blue white to cdi blue
black red to cdi red
green white to ground

coil to cdi yellow
kill switch to cdi black
ground to cdi green

when i got the sidecar i fitted a common six pin multi plug to both ends of the wiring so there's no chance of ever plugging a lead in wrong. The only thing you may not have picked up on which was posted earlier is to earth the green white wire from the engine or maybe a faulty cdi unit. I love chinese wiring systems especially on buses where you have to read circuit diagrams with a magnifying glass and a crystal ball.

Hey Wildman, thanks for your help.

Yes you have the exact same setup as me, colour codes all match. I have ran tests on the coil and that seems to be fine.
i've also tested to ensure i have a good constant ground to the CDI and to the green/white wire from the engine.

When i kick it over i can see pulse coming from the blue/white wire with a multimeter so that seems to be fine, i think i may have a faulty cdi.

im sending an email to newmanz to see if i can get a swap cdi to confirm. ill keep you posted :niceone:

Its finally running now! , just need to adjust the carberator and sort the exhaust out. I still havent hooked up the kill switch, can anyone tell me how this is done.

im really not keen on frying the CDI!

The kill switch is the black/ white wire, im guessing this goes to one end of the kill switch and the other goes to ground?

thanks a lot to the bucket guys, you have been a great help :)

kill switch operates the cup of sand into the carberator,

whatever that is.

thanks Dave, will any kind of sand work? i live next to a lot of it.

Glad to be of service. I imagine beach sand will be sufficent.

Awesome mate, thanks a lot. I wasnt 100% sure but thanks for confirming.
