Dont think I will buy motorcycle gear in NZ again before checking this site.
------>> http://www.fc-moto.de/epages/fcm.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/10207048/Categories
I bought a new KBC-xp3 Helmet from them a few days ago, total cost to me AU$212.45. (delivered) Pic Below.
The price of the Revit Jacket I bought in Auckland last year was $699.
The same jacket at FC Moto is $372.
Emails to them have been repsonded to the very next day.
My shoppping basket has more stuff added, prices are that good, your eyebrows will be difficult to hold down.
I will wait and see how long the helmet takes to get here.
..and if there is any extra cost added.

Mate your onto an absolute winner!!! :niceone: :niceone:
I brought boots off them first because it was the only place I could get Sidi size 15; they were coincidentally 200 bucks cheaper; and they took 2 weeks, then when winter hit I got gloves and a tank bag at amazing prices too, same 2-3 weeks delivery.
The track and trace number they give you is pretty rubbish at predicting when your stuff will arrive.
most times it still says they're in transit to NZ still when your off riding with your sweet new gear.
I'm a definite fan and will use them for everything I can, unfortunately I'm an oddly shaped son of a bitch (6' 8") so probably going to go custom for my new set of leathers.

also I haven't had any problems with any additional costs such as GST at customs yet , Touch wood,
technically if what you've ordered is over $400 they should charge you; but thankfully they're more concerned with catching people with condoms full of cocaine up their ass than checking the invoice on my package.

Why wouldn't it fit?
I only ever buy KBC Helmets size L (59/60)...which is what the new one is.

Last time I was in there...I asked them about the Helmet I wanted..the employee looked it up on the computer and said ''is this the one''?....then went on to say that he would check with his suppliers and let me know......nothing!
I have spent time over the last week searching the net for what I want, but NZ stocks and sites are very limited...so its overseas I go.
Just happened onto this site and browsed through it...signed up and bought.

I had people at the shop order me one of those little oxford visor cleaners, forgot about it for about 6 weeks and see they have them in stock again when visiting the shop again. Nobody called me to let me know it had arrived or to organise sending it out so I just brought it elsewhere. Not a big item but I have put a lot of money through that business but there service is not the greatest.

:jerry:
meh, I don't care what anyone says, overseas suppliers have their place. I've got a heap of stuff overseas and have paid landing charges on some of it. I allow for it just in case. My Shoei doesn't save me much getting it overseas (if any) and I my local has been good to me with prices like that. In a few months, wifey will be getting a new top-shelf lid and we'll go to the local. The only way we wouldn't buy from them is if they didn't (or couldn't get) the style she wants.
I've found that site to be about the same as the US places I go to, but a few things I usually shop for are dearer. Like always, ya just gotta shop around.

My advice is to pay in obscure currency at Fc-moto's end - there are other options to NZD. I'd wager it would not be stopped had I paid in Brazilian Real for example.

No... they simply check. If your package is over NZ$400 including shipping, there is a chance you will be pulled up for it. If you don't factor in these extra charges, it's your problem.
I say a chance, because sometimes it comes through easy as. I expect it to be held for GST payment though.

If you are invoiced in a foreign currency it means checking exchange rates, and if you land close to the $400 threshold I'd wager there's a greater chance of nothing being detained. Certainly a greater chance than seeing an invoice in NZD. Shipping cost is irrelevant.
Shipping cost is irrelevant.
Sure about that?
Goods mailed into New Zealand may be subject to import duty. Import duties are calculated on the Customs value of the goods in New Zealand dollars.
The goods may also be subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 15%, based on the Customs value of the goods, and including the duty (if any) and postal/courier charges.
Goods liable for duty and GST of NZ$60 or more cannot be released until the charges are paid.
There will also be an import entry transaction fee (IETF) and MPI biosecurity system entry levy (http://www.customs.govt.nz/features/charges/feetypes/Pages/importentrytransactionfee.aspx).

The only thing I would be worried about would be shipping insurance? Would hate for something to happen to the package and then only be able to claim $250 T_T
I don't know how this works though. Suppose I would have to ask DHL or some such.
JimmyC
10th October 2012, 09:12
Insurance is definitely an issue, which is why most overseas companies will refuse to fudge the value of a package.
Mail fraud is also a problem for some of these companies. If the package were to come across an overzealous customs officer who opens the package, sees multiple items with very expensive price stickers still attached, possibly even a receipt for the full value, and someone has stated with their signature that the package value is only $250, that doesn't bode well.
Hoarn
10th October 2012, 16:20
I've made 3 FC-Moto purchases so far. They have all included at the top of the package an itemised invoice in $NZ so no confusion for any customs officer there, but no fudging prices either.

NZ$1,895.63 + NZ GST wouldn't be so bad but NZ$2,245.73 + NZ GST would sting.
Better try find some NZ retailers to try this stuff on and make sure I get the sizes right before telling them 'Nah, I'll get it cheaper from the other side of the planet'.

Because you are not consuming the product in the country, it's ex-VAT. Often I've found shipping and VAT similar, so it's almost like free shipping...

You should cbf...
Because you are not consuming the product in the country, it's ex-VAT. Often I've found shipping and VAT similar, so it's almost like free shipping...
And even better, since the applicable sales tax in Germany is 19%, you may well get it shipped for a good chunk less than that depending on what you're buying. Everything I have bought from them only cost 16 euros to ship, and that included a big box with a leather jacket in it.
If you get it delivered to Germany you vill pay the 19% guaranteed. If you have it shipped here you might get lucky and avoid 15% GST. But most likely you will have to pay it plus a small MAF fee (IIRC). But there is no import duty on m/c gear as I recall. So you have maybe 3% to cover shipping while still being up on the deal.
FYI GST etc. is collected when the total cost including delivery is $400 or more. But they often miss stuff.

You know, I was skeptical at first but, glad I checked it out. I went to a place here in CHCH looking for a set of leathers.... $1499NZD. I went in, tried on the leathers but, they didn't have the colors I wanted. Said they would be getting in a new set in that color in about 2 weeks. Since I know the size, went to this site and they cost 708.13NZD (subtracting VAT)....plus shipping it was $741.14NZD. If I have to add GST that comes out to be about a total of $847.00NZD. I saved $651.65!!! What is going on here???? How can I buy something on the other side of the earth for about half the price. This almost seems criminal to me. Well, we shall see how the service goes and how long it takes to get here but, I am in no rush for that kind of savings.

I don't know the first thing about economics so I would have no idea why it is the way it is.
I have always done the same for my music gear. Have got ~then thousand dollars worth of new gear shipped from around the globe from retail outlets for a fraction of the cost it costs in retail here. AND the service from overseas is SO much better than that you can expect in New Zealand. It's a real shame but it is a fact.
I still plan on going NZ retail to find sizing and then order everything from this site. You just can't argue with hundreds of dollars saved.

This is the sort of thing that will kill businesses here in NZ, if we all do it, but when there are huge savings to be had it's hard to argue.
I recently purchased from overseas, granted the jacket I wanted was not available in NZ, but I would have done so anyway as I'm getting it for about half price (that's factoring in GST too!)

''If we all do it'' is like saying... ''if everyone leaves NZ''...its not going to happen is it?
Some do, and are better off for it...on both counts.
If I want to buy something motorcycle related, I will have a look at the saving to be had by buying overseas, and go from there...

So a Shoei large for example is the same everywhere in the world?

No, there are different shapes (I think 3-4) worldwide, to suit the different shaped heads of the local markets. I think there is USA, European and Asian at the least. Some are long and narrow, others are round, etc.
While the savings are good, helmets are one thing I will buy locally, because you have to make sure they are comfortable, and often you don't know which shape you're trying...

I will wait and see how long the helmet takes to get here.
..and if there is any extra cost added.
i ordered a Airoh MX helmet from these guys, saved about $400! when it turned up it didnt fit though! it was my size but it was a small shell with the thin padding instead of a large shell with thick padding, couldnt wear it as it was too uncomftable. i had tried on a Airoh in a shop and thought it was a really good lid, so thought i would shop around to get it cheaper. i sold it on trademe for the price i paid for it so passed the savings on to a fellow biker who loved it and fitted him perfectly.
In the end i managed to get an Arai helmet for half price in a sale at cyclespot honda.
Lesson learnt dont buy a lid without trying it on first!
A word of warning when buying things from overseas, sometimes customs will spot it and you will get stung for the tax on it, its just a gamble. stuff ive ordered in the past has got through but a friend had to pay the tax on a recluse clutch and lost all the savings he had made!

Funnily enough, the European\NZ Arai's don't seem to fit me very well anyway so I was interested in trying an American sizing to see if there was any difference. Went with a Nolan X-Lite 551 from TSS Red Baron in Lower Hutt in the end 'cos Andrew there had been nice enough to bring in like 6 different helmets for me to try, including two Arai's. That was definitely great service so had no problems buying local on that occasion.
Edit: fwiw, I should say it was specifically the Arai XD4 that didn't fit me well, other Arai's felt great.

I know it's not FC Moto, but as the topic of shipping came up, I bought a Dainese jacket from the Dainese Pro Shop in Belgium.
From the day I paid for it, it took them 8 working days to get the jacket from the factory in Italy, to them in Belgium, and then from Belgium to me on Masterton.
Not sure which international shipping company they used, but it cost me 20 euros (approx 31NZD).
I thought this was unbelievable.

I've tried them on here and know the medium fits me really well. I know people say that there are different shell shapes and sizes around the globe but it seems with most gear, jackets, gloves, boots etc, we seem to get the same versions here as Europe does. So anyway, helmets. Anyone got them from here? Fit just the same as the NZ version?

I bought an Arai from the USA, no problems, but you really do need to do your homework.
It's not only what country you buy from, different model Arais come in different head shapes and you need to know which is which. If you get it wrong the helmet definitely won't fit - and there won't be anybody else to blame.
All the information you need should be available on the Arai site or the dealer's site.

I think I am beginning to see where the problem is here. If you go to their website originally in German it states, "Gewünschte Grösse/Farbe nicht mehr lieferbar!" for that back protector. When I translate that it is "Desired size / color is not available anymore!"... However, when you click on the English flag to read the page in English, that notice disappears.
As for my leathers, they said they are to ship this week. If I don't hear from them, I will hunt them down again.

Yes it is, I saw it won a comprehensive back protector shoot out. I could not be more pleased with mine, was glad they did one in my size too. The mag test also said one day all back protectors would have breast plates, I'm a believer.
Funny thing is it replaced my 25 year daianese mach1 model!

How did the sizing go for you? I'm 185cm and would fit into the longest length size they have for the medium. Would be really annoying if it was too long though.

I'm 197 cm's so went for the longest one. It was a little shorter than what I thought it would be.

Well I just got highly complicated on them so lets see how they handle it.
I changed the boots on my order from the 2012 SMX plus to the 2013 gore-tex SMX plus and also added the spidi defender.
I only sent the request last night so will be interesting to see how it goes.

So I saw my order status turn to "viewed" (whatever that means) so I thought that if I want to change my order I had better get in touch quick, so I called them tonight and got it all changed over the phone. Damn good service. Looks like the new 2013 gore tex boots aren't in stock so it will be another week waiting but that's fine with me.
Great service so far from these guys.
The guy spoke great English and was very pleasant to deal with.

received another email for my order stating that my order will ship this week. Woo hooo! wait, this is what they said a week and a half ago too. oh, my order was viewed on 19/10/2012 for an item that STILL states it is in stock on their website.

Ouch! What the hell? I'm sorry that had happened to you man. I wonder if it was their supplier dicking them around in their ETA to FC.
The first part of my order is now being tracked by NZ post and showing as in the air between DE and NZ.
No idea on the boots and gloves, they were expecting those to come in this week or next week from A*s.
Will call them Friday morning their time to chase them. I've found being proactive with them to be great.
Hope you get a tracking number email soon man.

Hey, the thought just occurred to me.. I've got a work phone and I'm completely not worried about spending money on it (resigning soon, already signed contract with new company) and since I've got a new born and two toddlers I'm always up at night so if anyone with pending orders like wasiler would like me to call Germany at night to get them info or chase things up then I'm happy to do so.
Just PM me any details if you would like to take me up on the offer.

It finally shipped yesterday. I think they may have just messed up because they probably do get a lot of orders for the great prices they have. All in all, for the amount I saved it was worth it. How can I buy something on the otherside of the earth and save $500-$600 dollars?? Maybe I need to expand out further and see if I can find something in another universe. I would buy from them again. I would arrange the order so I don't need the item right away. Thanks for the offer on the phone Catharsis. Sounds like you are looking to pay your old company back in a different way. I hope your back-ordered stuff does not take as long.

After all the feed back I decided to buy some boots, I placed the order they confirmed and placed a hold for the amount on my credit card. A week later I got an e-mail to say the item was out of stock, ok all good but my credit card is still has the amount on hold the order is still showing as processing? This was on the 18Nov and I have had no reply to emails. Having read all the good feed back on here don't want to write them off but.......
Any help would be great
Cheers

I would not sweat it. If it is a good savings, remain calm. I placed my order on Oct 19th and it did not ship until yesterday. If you want to cancel, call them. They probably get thousands of emails a week.

Did I see somewhere in this thread that it took awhile for fc moto to process the payment on the credit card? They appeared to take it off at first, then it went back on to my credit card, now it's still there i.e. as if I haven't paid them, but they've shipped it now? Hmmm?

It will be interesting to see how people's parcels track.
Now I have 2 on the way with the same status: "Package has left the country of origin" or something. The first had had that status since the 4th and the other since the 8th. Will be watching like a hawk ;)

I'm not getting any more patient as I get older, and I hate it when I buy something and have to wonder how to get past the packaging.
Having read your kind words about FC Moto I thought I'd give them a try, but try as I might I can't get past the address page (step 2). Everytime I click "Next" it reloads the address page. Am i doing something stupid (entirely possible) or do FC Moto have a problem?

How is that possible. You are correct, anything below $400. This is what I got off their website and why did you get hit so much. That is 35% of the cost.
"When entering New Zealand, travellers are entitled to a wearing apparel and personal effects concession which includes the following items:
Clothing.
Toiletries.
Personal jewellery (including watches).
The wearing apparel and personal effects concession covers the above items which may have been acquired duty free in New Zealand or overseas.
These will be admitted free of Customs duty and goods and services tax (GST) irrespective of whether they accompany you or are sent separately, provided they are:
intended for your own use or wear; and
personally owned by you; and
not intended for any other person or persons; and
not intended for gift, sale or exchange."
You tell me. I'm pretty pissed off. What can I do? Where is the mention of $400 anywhere? I can't see it.

Yeah it sucks.
I worked out though, with my orders, even if I have to pay full duties and gst it will STILL be $600 less than what it would have cost here.
The first order now comes up as "held for clearance" as of 2pm today and the second says "arrived in NZ" so it wont be long before I know how much they're going to sting me with :(

Once on a $1,200 guitar I had to pay around $250 gst. But nothing other than that.

The $400 dollar thing comes from..........
The minimum threshold where they will get you is $60. That 15% of 400. On motorcycle parts or accessories there is no duty. On motorcycle tyres there is no duty.
So if they can get you for $60 GST, they throw in a few other bullshit fees to bump it up. I forget the real names for them.
Some of you have ordered motorcycle clothing. Now, clothing imports attract duty. But motorcycle clothing is a bit different. There may be a gray area here. If you bring in motorcycle clothing and they get you for Gst and Duty before you pay it, talk to them and make sure they have it right.
Remember motorcycle parts and accessories does not attract duty.

There was a piece in the paper this week. IIRC clothing attacts the attention of Customs at about $220. Then again a motorbike jacket might be safety equipment, not clothing. Guess it depends how keen the Customs people are?

Bummer it got caught but at least you are still looking at it from the positive side. I was doing the same thing. Even after customs charges I was still ahead. In the future though I will look a little closer at the item and try to estimate the possible customs ahead so it wont be a shocker. Good to hear though that you made a good savings. :niceone:
