Just need to get some rubber on the rear before another weekend mission out of town on the bike.

need something around 180 wide or 190 could fit, and profile 55 but could be 50 or 60 too I guess, for a 17" rim.

if anyone has or knows of something up for grabs for cheap, like 100ish, worn but still ok for a couple hundred kms.

not much on trademe, hoping KiwiBiker might prove useful.. or not ;)

I've got a 180 55 17 pilot sport with 3mm of tread hanging up in the garage that you can have for free.

Problem 1 - it is in Auckland
Problem 2 - it is about 6 years old = DANGEROUS!

PM me if you want it.

You'd think you fellas would be queing up at the pits with the nats going on down there ? Be truckloads of Metzler or dunlop, one race tyres up for grabs there that racers won't wanna drag home !!

what time does the Stage Coach come through???

About 11 then they unload everything onto a boat, cant expect a Horse and cart to wade through the depth of mud thats built up on the road to Dunners after 10 years of non stop rain.;)

Im still not convinced a 190 is the best option on a 5.5 rim but its up to him.

much appreciated! yea its not going to be ideal but its going to be better than trying to make it there on a tyre thats showing wire ;) much appreciated ay

No problem, the rim size thing got me thinking and i am pretty sure there was guys using 190s on 916/748s with a 5.5 rim.

yea there is all sorts of info with tyre sizing online.. I looked on some tyre manufacturer sizing and for instance Dunlop produces some 190's which are designed for a 5.5" rim etc.

And yea I've seen a few 190's on older 5.5" bikes, old ZXR750's and such.

Once I chuck it on the blade and have ridden it will report back on what its like :) I'v done it before, took the old 170 off an zxr750h1 and put on a 190 and rode it comfortably as normal.. I dont remember thinking it was worse anyway.

Feeling pretty happy after removing my old tyre off the rim using 1 tyre lever, 1 screw driver, some chopped up garden hose as rim protectors and a length of 4X2 and a block of wood as a bead breaker.. plus the gap under the house as fixing point for the lever to break the bead. Went not too bad!

now when the replacement tyres arrive I'll see if I can get one on again!

I thought the thing would have been there by now to be honest.

got the 190/50 on the 5.5" rim as opposed to 180/55 and it fits sweet as, looks normal and feels fine to ride! I'd say a 190 on a 5.5 rim isn't the end of the world. Lets wait and see if I make it around the first decent pace corner ;) hehe

Cheers for the Kiwibiker generosity eh. You beauties!

Hayd3n if you needin a rear you could have a look at the other one I didn't use
