Hi all,
Im Looking at buying a Honda CBR600, i have seen two i like and im wondering if anyone knows the differences
The First bike is
1999 CBR600
And the second is a
1999 Honda CBR F4 Ultima lite
Now i know the F4i is the injected model but im wondering what the differences btween the two above bikes are, as i cant find any other information conpairing the two, is the Honda CBR F4 Ultima lite a newer model? or just minor changes like the old RRs, Also which would be the better bike to buy (km and condition the same)
Thanks for reading

I know a little about the F2/F3's, and the F4 was just a few minor changes on them... Okay, some major, but essentially the same design philosophy.
I think the only real difference between the two bikes you mention is a fuel injection system, and a bit of weight lost from various areas....
If it were me, I would actually go for the carburated model.
As the first model with any major advancement (Like Fuel injection) can be a bit of a dog. This is a general rule, and may not apply in this case, but I would err on the side of caution.
I like Carbs. and have had one or two F2's in my shed over the past little while.... So that may be where my biased is ;)
All in all, you could do a lot worst than a CBR600.

Thought you had a fzr 250, not 600.. :brick:
The first lot of injected cbr 600's were a bit of a pig if I remember right,
mate of mine had the older cbr600's an 89 if I remember right, it was invincible, I believe his fairings started falling off on a trip to blenheim while travelling a bit more than the sign posted speed.. so if thats anything to go by, the later model ones cant be to much worse haha

lol get with the times DM,
The first F4I were injected the normal F4 Werent,
From what i can see the main differences was the frame was changed to alloy, can anyone confirm this?

either bike is decent, but it would be more helpfull if you could link us to the ones in question. Ive had CBRs, my mates have had them, and theyve been fairly bullet proof bikes that took daily abuse and never bat an eyelid.
but I dont really know what youre asking here by which is 'best', in what sense? so Ill list my assumptions as to our underlying questions with some answers
which is fastest - depends who's riding it
which is coolest - depends what kind of guy you are into
which has more power - get a thou
which is more reliable - depends on service history more than anything else at this age
which is right for me - only you will know after riding them both back to back which you preferred
which will be the most fun - depends what you're into
which one will make me rossi - given your limited foray into biking, neither of them. try to use some restraint and common sense and dont become an ACC statistic or a cop magnet, I can bring more than enough attention to bikers in Otago with my own antics thank you very much.

The 1999 CBR600F4 had what Honda called a Pro Frame frame which basically consisted of an aluminum twin-spar frame and extruded aluminum swingarm, with a combined swingarm pivot incorporating both engine crankcase and frame-mounted pivot points.
Don't know what the ultima lite is and as far as I know the first fuel injected CBR600 F4i weren't available until 2001

You may take the piss out of my Korean made nuke,
I cant say it was nearly as fun as my NC30, But I can say, I ride my ride the way I want to ride, and that ride is the ride I like to ride and I will ride it with pride.

The First bike is
1999 CBR600
I had a 1999 FX which I got rid of in 2004, seen it a couple of times in Mosgiel since so maybe it is the same one. If you get either one send me a PM. I have a Haynes manual I no longer need which covers both the models.
Just seen that your current bike is an FZR600, which is what I had before the CBR. It'll be a thou twin after that.

Hi Sliver,
They're exactly the same model bike. Both of them are CBR600 F4s. The model ran between 99-00 until the F4i came along in 01. I'm assuming the second one is the ad I've seen on TM - what's happened there is the guy has written down what's on the stickers on the bike to make it sound flasher; it doesn't actually mean anything of any use.
If they're the same condition and kms, the better bike to buy would be the one that costs less (or the prettier one - whichever grates your cheese).
Hope that helps. Oh, and if you need a penis enhancement buy a GSXR600 by all means, but most F4 riders were sorted in that department BEFORE they bought their bikes :Punk:

yep, as he said, exactly the same bike, just different sticker. I have an 00 "ultima light". EXACTLY the same as all the other 99-00 cbr 600f.
BTW they are really good bikes. Altho you should watch out for the "flat spot" between 5500 and 6000 rpm, if the bike has this flat spot, the way to get rid of it is an aftermarket can and a dynojet carb kit.

If you know the sizes you need, you might be able to get the relevant parts separately for less than a kit. My Factory Pro kit was around 90USD, but all I use from it was 2 needles and a main jet. But in saying that, I tried about 4 different main jets in the tuning process, and am about to re-tun and use another one. And on the plus side, Factory Pro has a lot of very good tuning guides online, so I still got value for money from them!
