I don't know if you guys used to get (or remember) the sci-fi comedy series 'Red Dwarf', but if you did you will be delighted to know that a new series has been commissioned.

I was lucky enough to go to the recording of the second episode - my report for the Huffington Post follows:

Loved that show but for me, it kind of lost its way toward then end. I'm skeptical that they will be able to recapture the magic.

Quite enjoy Red Dwarf, but as clockwork says I doubt it'll be the same really.

Shows run their course and it's best to end on a high rather than drag it out after jumping the shark

yeah, me too..

Can remember when it frist showed in NZ on a show called "Friday Night". We used to get wasted and watch it. Then a mate went to England and would send us a VCR of the show (yes, it was that long ago) as it was played. So we were watching series 2,3,4 long before anyone else in NZ saw them.. we used to have Red Dwarf parties, where all our mates came over to watch like, a whole series lol.

As I said in my review, the scripts were back to being classic Red Dwarf. If you saw "Red Dwarf: Back To Earth", ignore it. The second episode (the one I went to) was proper, funny, clevely written Red Dwarf.

As long as the rest of the series is like it (and as best as I can work out - everyone is being *really* good about not releasing any information or spoilers - the other episodes have all been as good), then this should be like before series 7 and 8 (so before Lister left and we got substitute Kochanski).

Chris Barrie would be an interesting chap to chat to, quite into his classics and writes for practical classics iirc.

I quite agree. They shouldn't have splurged on that dinosaur. That way they could've afforded another episode to round out the series.

You may well be right but I hope not. Maybe this time they can finish it properly.
