Just in the process of tuning a gsx1100 race motor with 33 Keihin CR's.
It's running rich mid-range and the needle, a Y 9, is on it's top clip. Does anyone know the cross over specs for these ie if I go for a leaner needle which notch will equal the top on this one so I get the best place to start and work away from, i'm sure there must be a bit of a crossover between needles.
Anyone out there got needle sets out there that I may be able to borrow and try, please, Y00 and Y01 (5 clip ) looks like the ones I'll need to focus on.

Katman may be a good place to start?

You may be surprised how much the slow run jet affects midrange...what size are you running ?

another option is dial a bit more advance in if you have an adjustable ignition.

At one point Sudco had all the tables of needles on their website.

Before you get started on an old set of carbs, have a good squiz down the tubes with a real bright mini torch & check for ovality. Any wear will make it hard to tune out with needles as there is some wet fuel coming up the side.
