I'm looking to get back into trail riding, 5 years ago I owned a XR250( a bit heavy), KDX200 ( also a bit heavy, both these bikes performed well but I am looking for something a bit easier to ride, lighter and forgiving.
I do not want to go fast, do jumps or that stuff, just trail riding , group days etc. and something my 18yr old daughter could handle.
I have looked at CRF230 & TTR230 Yamaha's. Both appear OK . I weigh 80Kg and are 5'10".
I'm looking to spend about $3K.
Appreciate any sensible suggestions

Maybe take a look at the Forza (Click Here) (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/140344-Forza-230f-here-in-NZ-Dirtbikes-for-the-common-person?highlight=forza)range?

I'd try a Forza too if I were you, I've got a KLX for my noob mates and the smaller (less than 95kg) ones find it too heavy - if you've been away from trailbikes for 5yrs then some of the Chinese bikes have really improved - check out the Forza thread in these forums - think they come with electric start too which is a major bonus when dealing with newbies who've stalled it on an awkward hill..
KTM's are nice too esp their 2Ts but you're getting into some coin there
Those 230's sound about right for what you're asking them to do - if I was buying for 3k or so I'd def go for an elec start too
Good luck

Good bikes, but quite heavy. Especially if they think a KDX200 is heavy.
