Hi all,
My 250 had suffered an unfortunate incident. I went to start it and the Starter idler gear destroyed the casing, and wrecked some teeth on the starter clutch.
So to that end, to race in round 2 of the PMCC on Sunday (yes, the 15th), I need a bike.
Is there anybody out there with one sitting in the shed they can lend me this weekend?
I know most of the class is currently at Timaru, but on the off chance somebody can help me out I am putting the call out. Help... Please.
I will look after it, and use my own tyres and fairings.
Yes, I am driving the family nuts.
BTW, it doesn't matter if it is a totally road legal bike. I can convert it to race and back to road within a couple of hours.
Cheers
CHOPPA

Yeah, thanks Choppa. All on my Watch List, however I need to get it here TOMORROW and install it.... Not going to happen unfortionatly. So next best thing is to ask to borrow a bike for the weekend, and sort the other one out next week.
Else, I will just have to ride the Quad on Sunday.

Bad luck mate. Andy Crofts Starter shit itself at Ruapuna but stayed inside the crankcase. Push starts are the go.

Sh1t, that is a bugger for Andy...
Yup, push starts.... Did a whole season pushing a ZXR450 for Mr Chappell a few years back... I need a spanner swinger ;)
Oh, mine stayed in the crank case, but the boss the dowl for the idler gear goes into broke on the engine side, as opposed to the cover. Means the engine is useless for the road (yes, it is used on the road between rounds).
Might well look at putting it together tomorrow, OR, taking a drive to New Plymouth....

Not totally sure, but it may have something to do with the torrential rain I got caught riding in the other day. Bike didn't seem to start very well after that.
I ensured all the water was out of it the best I could, but as I hit the starter this afternoon it went BANG!
It may be coincidence though....

I note they are all Ninja or Hyosung.
How about the new Honda 250? Is that anygood/elligible for this class?

They are eligible. I think Andrew Forward ran on last year at the nats? From a few threads kicking about on here, I think they make less power than the kwaks/hyosungs and possibly weigh more

Righto.... Thanks Alex for the offer, that was awesome.
However, I have managed to get the Ninja working.... Just has a small limitation, but at least I will be racing tomorrow.
Looking forward to it now. Got the camera on the Helmet for this round, so the footage should be awesome!
Also borrowed a little tool of Chappy, so that should help me make a few improvements too ;)
As for the new CBR250, we will have to ask Billy, but I am pretty sure they will fit right in and are eligable to enter now. Even though they are a single, they make about 1 HP less. I'm not sure they weigh more, but may do....

Cheers. Honda website says "curb weight" of 161kg and Kawasaki website says Ninja is 170kg

Think you'll find anything a couple of years old isnt actually eligible for 250 Prolite. Need to be current models that comply with homogolation rules. And Andrew Forward ran CBR150's last year not a 250. The new CBR250 is allowed to race, but think its down on power comapred to the twins.

Well, Gav you might be technically correct.
Blair Mason campaigned "The Pickle" in the VMCC rather sucessfully. The disadvantage was the 16" rims... They made more power, but I guess a blind eye may have been turned....
Not stiring here ( and don't want to cause trouble), I am all for the ProLite class (Obviously) and think it is great to have bikes on equal footing. To be honest, the GPX was quite equal to the modern kit...and think they should be included for those on a budget, at club level at least, if not the Nationals.
After talking to Billy today, I can confirm the new CBR250 (Yes Andrew Forward had a F4 150) is a little down on power (22 vs 28), and up on weight (But don't bother talking to this heavy weight about weight).

Your bike doesn't need to be Homologated to run Prolite National Class. After 2 rounds all the Hyosungs are still running.
