Instead of continuing to rely on a contact in the states to rebuild VMX bikes, we thought we might have a go ourselves!!

Given it wasn't all that pretty to start with, its gonna be a racer!

Got nowhere to restore one you say? How bout the 5th floor of an apartment in the city, plus of course BEER

And she's done all the work herself so far too. Without any guidance or help! Might even let her ride it when we finish it.:Punk:

Sure did take me forever to work out how to get the engine out.....don't think I did the most efficient way possible, but at least it is out :)

RM400T this time. Look good next to my 400N that's coming. Pretty much the same bike with minor changes. Be good to let mates come along to VMX meets with us and give it to them to ride so they can get a feel for the whole scene.

Actually I think it might be homo flavoured coffee, now you come to mention it - that's if we're talking about Pete's world (in)famous WMCC coffee..........that would explain the horrible taste.....

Can he sand blast it too?Actually, the guy we took it to is the sand/soda blaster (get the swing arm soda blasted), but he has a deal with a guy just round the corner who does the paint. He did the whole shebang. What we should have done with the MVX though, is get the guy to call when it was blasted so we could inspect the original build quality. The welds looked fine with original paint, but once it was blasted most of what you saw was slag not chipped off. Suzuki would likely be better though.

This thing is pretty fucked. The frame has been welding by the s/a pivot and I'm not sure how well. But I'll get it cleaned up once I've split the cases. If it's fucked internally I won't bother.

Yeah, Soda Blasters in Montgomery Cres Upper Hutt. Dude media blasted the frame and swing arm, then had it all powder coated, $160 total. Thoroughly GC.

Not 400T specific but in that era RM wise i've got a complete front end if your stanchions are shot, rear rim, footpegs and brake lever, front and side number boards and various other junk.
None of it is NOS but its yours if needed.

Oh yeah keep the update pic's coming it's always good to see the ol girls tarted up...the bikes not to shabby either:innocent:

2.15 x 18 unfortunately mate but with a modern 110/100 knobbly it will be plenty enough tyre for your old 400.

Yeah that's true, but the 2.50 rim opens the tyres out a lil better
