So I'm female. Yes, I know I say that like it makes me a bit special needs. but I did buy a dirt bike so maybe I am.
What sort of stuff is there for chicks and/or newbies of the hare scramble, enduro variety ?
I have a KDX 220 and am serious newbie, only had about 4 hours dirt experience. Most eating the stuff. and digging my bike out. but fuck it was fun..:Punk:
And is there any Girls around Auckland region that would be interested in helping me learn to ride or can hit me up with some ridding tips?

I'm not sure there's much in the way of girl specific stuff anywhere? Other than the odd girly rider training sessions?
There's plenty of riding to be done though if you are willing and able to get out there and do it.
I'm sure there are heaps of riders up your way too. I hear the Sandpit (?) is pretty good local riding....
Have you got gear and a bike-moving-contraption?

yeah I heard the sandpit is the go-to place in Auckland
I guess learning off a guy is the same as learning off a chick in someways so just watch them and ask them for tips.

My girlfriend has recently got the dirt biking bug and is loving it. From her experience, the best thing I did by a long way is get Tony from the Sandpit to give her a lesson.
That was the first time she'd ever been on a bike and it has paid dividends having her being taught by an experienced teacher, who has helped loads of kids and women learn how to ride and made sure from the outset she knew the right way of mastering the basics. She rides waaay better than she should for her experience level, all thanks to Tony.
Plenty of places to ride around the Auckland area, as long as you're happy to travel an hour and a bit or so. We've done the Sandpit a couple of times, Thundercross a couple of times and a farm ride up Kaipara way, all of which she loved. Once you get a bit more confident, then some of the more fun-focused enduro and cross country events have women classes, so you can get your competition fix easily enough.

I second the "Tony Training" its well worth it as he can give you some good tips - the Sandpit is a good place to learn - frustrating as hell to start with but once you get the hang of it you'll be rocking along. Google search endless dirtbiking to find him - or I'm guessing he might see this thread and post a comment :wari:
Theres a group of us heading up there on Friday and you would be more than welcome to come join in - I could show you some neat trails to start on that are not too sandy.

Awsome to see more girls getting into the biking buzz!

Ah, so you're the friendly volunteer camera man then?
Um well the action was captured perfectly... however the action itself was really rather lame... my jumping skills are pathetic
Although it was very useful to see myself in action, I was hitting the jump much faster when I was out there a week later, because I knew I was only doing little baby jumps before... was still kinda pathetic though....

I bet you have nice legs  My girlfriend is in the same boat, learning to ride on the road & off road but she struggles a little with bikes height which is not as high as a KDX. She has developed a taste for ti tree & pine needles.
Can't help unfortunately, it's hard enough finding somewhere to ride up here without being chased or spending a lot of coin.

Try PMing Michelle (or Dutchee on this site). Think she still has her KDX but isn't riding it much in favour of other bikes atm. She seemed to know bunch of gurls in Aucks that rode I believe, & is a stinking good sort.
Actually you have to have a few posts before you can PM.
oh yeah & check out Canadian Dave's KDX site on DRN (google it)

Michelle's husband here, we've been busy with buckets and road bikes lately and didn't drag the dirt bikes out much last year, and aren't looking likely to in the near future either unfortunately.
