As per the title, is there a well established route from the Wellington CBD for putting a bike through it's paces within a polite 30ish min test ride? I know almost every road in the Hutt like the palm of my hand but there are a few bikes at Motorad/WMCC I wouldn't mind learning a bit more about without taking for a half day ride out into the 'Rapa. Mr. Crasherfromwayback I am interested in your views.

Very good question. 30 minute round trip would get you to Petone or Johnsonville and back. Which isn't very usefull really.

bloody good idea actually, up alexandra from newtown, past the lookout and back down past wellington motorcycles, turn right and go aroun the bays to kilbernie, and back
short trip, but gets lots of different kinds of riding in
and the town belt side of alexandra road is twisty and secluded, only 50k limit though all through.

Haywards Hill Rd either to the top and back or do the loop and take 45 minutes. If you are serious buyer I doubt the dealer will object and may even use you as an excuse to go for a wee thrash themselves.
I think you need a wack at highway speeds to judge the bike as well as urban roads.
Cheers
