View Full Version : Why *I* like bikes. The trashy version.

Following in my good mate Jim2s footsteps I'll relay my thoughts of the day.

I've just started a new career of contracting my immensly valuable services to a company with the intention of selling their vast array of POS (that's Point Of Sale, not Piece Of S*#t) computers and software. Anyone who knows me understands that I actually know dick about computers, nor am I very nice. This has made my first few days of learning quite stressfull and acompanied with another disaster, fucken horrible.

This afternoon, I thought "Fuck this, I've earned a break!". So I took one.

Quick thrash in the *mighty* Escudo from Manukau to home, quick bite for lunch, onto the Gixxer and off to Pukekohe goes I. I've never seen a proper "drift" competition and thought I'd check out the practice day. All I can say it was fucken spectacular. (Not allowed to talk about cages on here, shhhh)

So I'm standing on the inside of Jenian Homes, watching some very talented cage drivers hurling some vehicles sideways at the same speed I'd head in there on a bike. Good stuff. Standing next to me, are three of the Australian lads that were invited for the competition, all marvelling at the Kiwis expertise and obviously wondering what the hell they'd got themselves in for.

After the cages, the bikes came out for a session and one of the loud mouthed pricks looking after these three young guys pipes up with "How fucken boring, why would anybody ride a bike!" Because I'm such a shy chap, I said nothing and kept to myself then wandered back to the pits behind these chaps. The three Auzy guys head to the pits, their mate goes over the "overhead" bridge and climbs in his not too shabby S15 Silvia cage and heads out towards the road. I follows, Gixxer mounted :devil2:.

So I follow this peanut dicked womble in his flash cage all the way through Puke' and head towards Drury, all the time laughing to myself at what's about to happen.

Almost at Drury and opportunity knocks. We get to the passing lane doing about 90. Matey flicks the indicator, moves right and gives it some shoe, all in one well trained move. Gets past the slower vehicle quite quickly for a cage, all the time watching the bike headlight in his mirror. We're doing about 150 and climbing at this stage, he dives into the left lane about the same instant as I go from 5th to 3rd and pin it. Just in time in fact to see a shitty looking Gixxer 1K come wailing past on one wheel with the rider giving him a cheery wave.

THAT'S WHY PEOPLE RIDE BIKES ARSEHOLE, THEY'RE SO FUCKEN BORING!

Wonder what Madboy would'a done?

Mate.... nice one, I couldent be fuked with work today either so after reaslembling the bucket Kickaha droped in, we looked at the ever so blue sky thinking havent seen that for a month..... I turned and looked at the Bucket.. then SV1000, then VTR1000 and then the K4 1000.......... and said to Kickaha "I know which one I'm riding which do you want" well he said rather quickly I might add "the poxy Honda"

So we hit the hills, anyway this was my 1st real good spin on the K4 and yes it does wheelie in 3rd I had no freeking idea what I was doing just held it open and bounced of the bumps in the rd... till it was airborne just like taking of in a light plane.

Did the odd 1st gear wheelie but that just puts the shits up me crist it comes up quick and then theres 2nd ever so awesome to wheelie in that gear smooth and gradual :Punk:
Well I dont know what Kickaha was doing to the poor honda it was more than likely trying to buck his sorry anti Honda riding arse off...... but I think he enjoyed the day wagging work too :ride:

Ps: Gixer K4 thour awesome, but give me a V2 anyday (at least you can use all the v2 power up unlike the scarey as hell Gixer

Nice - I have a similar yarn - but it was on an XS1100 and knob head was in a GTR Torana - 20 years ago. No wheelie at that speed, but a schoolin' none the less.

I spent a lovely afternoon with this beauty
http://www.amps.co.nz/rksavers/pages/800_600_5.htm
Loved it's guts - and the noise it makes, sigh.....you tend to ride it round in third gear for the noise it makes.

Nice Moves Jimmy, I can picture the whole thing in such detail.... Having been lucky enough to see it all many times before. Like the time we we're all headed to Cemetary Circuit and that RSV Millie came stonking along from behind. I'm sure he would have shat himself when he looked in his rear mirror to see a very detailed underside view of a Gixxer thou! far that was cool dude! :Punk: or was it the front wheel that looked like it was about to take a rest on him!

That fucker was *extremely* lucky not to wear a Gixxer front wheel in the back of his helmet. I mean, honestly, who goes storming past a group of 25 bikes, pulls in in front of the lead rider and hits the picks. What a tool.

Had a gutsfull of selling bikes mate. Strange as it may sound, it all gets a bit monotonous after a while. All you're ever doing is working bikes, you loose the desire to ride on the meagre one day a week ya get off.

Bikes is OK - it's some of the people on them that rob the enthusiasm - what they expect from a motorcycle dealership and their perceptions of the value of their motorcycle that can get tiresome.
You also have to deal with a lot of rejection. Yer punter say 'no' much more than yes, most of the time for bullshit reasons - sure there are reasons - but seldom the one they give the sales person.
It's like all gigs - there's yin and yang, pay the ferryman days.

I haven't got sick of the work and play thing yet.
